This does bring back fond memories. When I was eight, my grandfather bought me an Isis action figure. It was made by Mego, 8 inches tall, with big hair that looked awfully dorky compared to the actual hairstyle of the actress in this series. I recall her having very intricately detailed, removable footwear and jewelry as well. The toy I mean, not the actress. Although I'm guessing her footwear and jewelry would have also been removable and nicely detailed.

Try my being as young as 5 and my dearly departed brother was 4. I was Isis and he was Shazam. He absolutely loved this show and when I saw it here, it bought the shiniest of tears to my eyes. As with all too many tv adaptations of the late 60's(batman for example) and early 70's, some diversion from the 'original' comic book origin and stories has taken place. SHAZAM - means Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles and Mercury. In comics, Billy Batson gets his powers bestowed by a wizard called SHAZAM, and each letter of that name corresponds to powers and abilities of that Greco-Roman god (aside from Solomon). The character is called Captain Marvel, and was created in 1939

Maggie Cooper was definately the hottest chick on this show - she was getting to me when I was only 10-11 yrs old - she (and Pam Ferdyn) would sometimes wear the "Miniskirt Uniform" ;) I especially liked her in the episode "Johnny Spaceseed" where there's a epidemic that makes them act drunk (like on that one ep of Star Trek) and she's sitting on the windowsill of the command center in her short minidress acting all silly & they have to take her out of there...gorgeous!

I agree, this is not at all as good as the fantastic season one theme. This is, well, OK, but feels like a step down. The pompous presentation of Landau and Bain, the mix of action and slow cuts, spacey sense of wonder and fireworks, I think that is a masterpiece, and this is more like everything else. Maybe they thought the original was over-done and wanted a more relaxed approach? I must admit that the poor sound quality does affect the judgement, but I don't think that is all there is to it.

I love this show, those cool shows from the past seem that were design to impress us with something new to the eye. Remakes like Bionic Woman seems to be target to the 90210, One Tree Hill generation. I don't watch it because I keep expecting that old feeling to come back and it doesn't... even Battlestar Galatica is not the same, I must admit it is well made. I think the only one that managed to attract me is the new Star Wars episodes, I really watch them over and over as the originals.

His big fallout with ABC was over Janeane. Some ABC child psychologist thought Janeane was too assertive and negative. So the suits told him to make her more "maternal" and "supportive". He wanted to create a positive black role model, like Fat Albert, for inner city black kids, but as an action hero instead. Paul Dini. one of the writer producers of Batman the Animated series worked on this show. and originally Blackstar was supposed to be a Black man but Lou Schiemer of Filmation was scared off by CBS execs who thought saturday morning TV was'nt ready for a cartoon drama with Black lead. and for the "dumb" part. this was still the early 80s before the resurrection of Disney and before producers started taking smart risks

I remeber this show would come on at 11 am and it would end the Saturday morning kids programming. I seem to remember that all the cartoons and everything would be over after the show would end.I also remember not understanding it which means it probably had a level of sophistication to it.
