Very funny! And, to the Mom's Basement dwellers below getting your nerd-rections all hot and red over the... whatever the hell you're arguing about... please go find a woman and talk to her. Maybe even pay her money to have sex with you. Trust me, you'll be happier in the end.

The fact that you belive that stupid troll darkstar just makes me laugh. Who is he? A nobody. Does his opinion of the starwars EU matter? No. The AOTC:ICS is an official source because it doesn't contradict lucasfilm canon policy and was used to add pages to the holocron. whether you accept it or not I don't care just don't lie about it it makes you look stupid.
By: blacksun2175. on 15 Oct 08, 12:25:58
WOW ther's nothing I can say that perion hasn't already bitchslapped you with. Let us see who's word is official as far as I'm concerned a trektard who argued with EU writers and recived the imperial smackdown or Leeland chee the keeper of the holocron and all things starwars hmmmm thats REALLY a tough one.

USS Enterprise can't match the firepower of Star Destroyer and loosing shields 5 times in a roll and surviving after this. NX-01 Enterprise is cooler than USS :P
By: blacksun2175. on 15 Oct 08, 12:22:43
Leeland chee said the ICS was canon he's the keeper of the holocron. I see we have another one of scooters mindless cockgoblins here-sigh- fucking trektards.

From the EU, or from the canon? What's your position, are you aruging Star Wars canon vs Star Trek, or Star Wars + EU vs Star Trek?
By: SirBroadsword. on 15 Oct 08, 12:10:57
Of course, it probably starts to spin-off into pointlessness, but if you really want to, just admit that aruging the EU is a fundamentally different position than aruging the Star Wars canon and move on, I don't understand why EU wanking Warsies don't do this...
By: SirBroadsword. on 15 Oct 08, 12:09:05
I see... So, where is the quote from someone at Lucasfilm declaring them canon? Besides, it's not as if you need Lucasfilm's "heare be canon" blessing to argue the EU, simply state "I am aruging Star Wars, EU included, vs Star Trek." This is a fundamentally different position from "I am aruging Star Wars, its canon as defined by Lucas himself and those close to him" vs Star Trek, but a completely valid one, just as aruging, say, BSG vs Star Trek is valid, or B5 vs Star Trek is valid...

Um, no... the biggest turbolasers pump out terratons of energy not kilotons.

I love Star Trek, despite what my arguments might imply, DS9 in particular, the stories and characters are wonderful and deep, but I don't watch Star Trek for the starship combat any more than I watch Star Wars for the Dialogue.

"These books would represent the most thorough research ever done on these vehicles and would receive Lucasfilm's formal imprimatur as canon. These volumes would henceforth be sent out to licensees as reference guides and would become useful manuals for Industrial Light & Magic, where some of the artwork influenced details in Episodes I and II." ?Star Wars Insider 68 Industrial Light and Magic use the ICS books as reference material, just as much as a shipbuilder would use blueprints
By: SirBroadsword. on 15 Oct 08, 11:53:51
Indeed, when Lucas dies and inevitably hands the reins to someone else, if they throw open the doors and declare the entire EU to be canon, then you're free to argue that the ICS, for example, proves that Trek doesn't have a have against Wars (which it wouldn't if what the ICS says is true), but untill then, the EU isn't canon, BECAUSE THE GUY WHO MAKES THE RULES SAID SO! And to reiterate, currently Berman makes the rules on Trek canon, not Roddenberry...
By: SirBroadsword. on 15 Oct 08, 11:51:04
Look, agian, TTBOMK, Anderson never claimed the EU was canon and as for Rodenberry, he's not alive anymore and doesn't make the decisions regarding canon anymore (that honour would fall to Rick Berman), whereas Lucas is still alive, owns the rights to SW, WROTE THE DAMN THING and thus I think it's fairly safe to say he makes the rules, just as it was safe to say Roddenberry made the rules before died and handed the reins to someone else...
By: Perion. on 15 Oct 08, 11:49:34
he wrote the forward from kirks perspective, and kirk, in the forward refers to his "exploits" as they were "shown" as "exadurated" and "Romanticised" which ment that everything from the TOS was suddenly "exadurated" and thus inadmissable, and everything after TNG season 5 or 6 or so was created after Roddenbury's death.
By: Perion. on 15 Oct 08, 11:48:09
in other words, the game began with the rules everyone agreed on, but because the trekkies were losing, they decided to change the rules, both sides agreed that if we used the canon policy of either series creator that the results would be very limiting, TNG seasons 1-6 or so for the Trekkies, and Episodes 1-6 of Star Wars, since Gene Roddenbury stated "it isn't star trek unless I say it's star trek" then when he wrote the ST motion picture novelization,
By: SirBroadsword. on 15 Oct 08, 11:47:02
"that gives a practically equal ammount of material, however, once it was found out that the official publications gave actual stats trekkies didn't like, they "coincidentally" decided to change it." Agian, talk to the Lucas, but Robert Anderson never claimed the EU was canon and if he did, he doesn't now because LUCAS SAID IT WASN'T!!! As for the DK publishing books, I'll check on that and I'll get back to you... If they ARE canon, then fine... :)
By: Perion. on 15 Oct 08, 11:44:29
the Essential Guides are EU, the DK publishing books are not, the EU gives Star Wars more material to draw upon, remember what the original accepted ST-vS-SW debate thing was? Star Wars Movies and Expanded universe, but not the games for obvious reasons Star Trek all movies and TV series that gives a practically equal ammount of material, however, once it was found out that the official publications gave actual stats trekkies didn't like, they "coincidentally" decided to change it.
By: SirBroadsword. on 15 Oct 08, 11:43:38
Well that hardly serves as an advantage but again, we simply can't know wether that would spoof ST sensors or not, thus we can rate it as having an "ambiguous" effect on a battle between Trek and Wars because WE CAN'T KNOW what effect it would have, just as we can't know wether a Trek ship could track a cloacked Wars ship (primarily because we've never seen one cloack in the canon, though we know they exist because of what Needea exclaimed when the Falcon vanished off the Avenger's sensors).
