Got the japanese version when it came out and, man, am I ever impressed! This is absolutely amazing and incredibly fun! Hooked it up with my Jomox T-Resonator and was able to fetch the most incredible sounds ever! Amazing - not to be missed!

Definately not a toy. I got this about a month ago and was blown away by just how much synth you get for your money. Brilliant for analogue percussion as well as synth. I've used it in power electronics as well as more digital hardcore inspired stuff and it really is a usefull piece of kit. I own an ms20 and although the ds doesn't really sound like a real ms it's still an amazing bit of gear i'd recommend to anyone. It way not sound like an ms, but it doesn't have to does it.

It's not that bad. I'm not well off financially at all, anybody who got to know how much I make and spend would call me a complete and utter idiot, but I must say that even though I have to live on noodles and water for the rest of this month, my KP3 was worth it. More so than the Kaossilator I bought in August, which feels limited now that I have a drum machine and various synths. My wallet hates me!

You sound like a classically trained musician. A real trainspotter. Been a while since you had a comission? If you really are experienced (I have around 15 years, by the way), you'd know better than to pick on something like "repetitive" when that's a pretty standard feature of this genre of music. Though you could feasibly connect the output to a computer through a sound card and mic port with a stereo RCA->1/8" cord, I would assume that he has an audio interface like the M-Audio Firewire 410. i use ableton, before that i used reason 4. i must say ableton rips reason to shreds, but you can also rewire reason and ableton to run together (very easily). the main benefit of ableton is it supports vst plugins which opens up a whole new world compared to reason.

I use Reason for most things, but it is pretty daunting if you are just getting your feet wet. Like ploydfink says FL Studio has a much easier learning curve on realizing your ideas. As far as gear goes Korg has a lot of fun gear. If you can afford it the Korg Electribe EMX is really fun to start out with. The KAOSSILATOR is really cost effective and you can carry it around with you (unlike the EMX).

Can anyone help me, how do you get whole songs onto the kp3? for example remixing a muse song. I've tried changing it to a WAV file and putting it on a sd card, but i can only get the first 15 seconds or so then it repeats itself? How do I get it to play the whole way through? Cheers.

I've just recently bought a kp3 and I have noticed that when you stop one loop from the sampler, when you press the button again, it will continue the sample from where you left it ( like hitting "pause" and then "play" ) My question is: can you programm the sampler so that when you stop the sample and then play it again it will start from the beginning of the sample? ( like hitting "stop" and then "play" ) - same as Return to Sample Start?

Dude, I know exactly what you mean about losing the hours! Fantastic box, except what's the deal with loops going out of sync in 2008? This really pisses me off about this unit. Not to mention no other option to trigger sampling apart from hitting the pad. What happened to auto level triggereing or midi note triggering. For those who don't like to use a computer, you gotta be real tight hitting those pads on time to sample drum loops etc. Other than these major gripes I still love it

yeah postpunk77 you can sample yourself.the KP3 has a couple of different inputs, stereo RCA inputs and a 1/4 inch "guitar" jack input and is switchable between mic and line level. I lose hours "jamming" with myself...That sounds bad. Sure you only have four samples available at one time (unless you mix them down), but that hardly becomes an issue when you think about the overall usefulness of this machine. One of the best mass market electronic music devices I've seen in years.

You can indeed "switch sample banks" but if you were using samples like the ones demonstrated, it would take around 50 - 60 seconds of load time to import a new bank of 4 samples. During this load time, no effects, sample playback or control of the unit is available. You just have to wait, and wait, and wait. The speed of the SD card is irrelivant - trust me I've tried!! So that is it: 4 samples at once is all you get. Any more is from the SD card and requires a load. Polyphony is 4 pads.

I think they just fucked up on that effect, its supposed to be like talk modulation, but they put hella delay on it too which covers up the effect, it says nothing about the delay on the FX chart, so Im assuming its not supposed to be there.

I have a mini-Korg keyboard synth that I love, but I've recorded so many songs that I've used nearly all the effects it provides. And I have a Boss drum machine that's a little tinny for my taste. Since I normally record with MIDI cables connected the synth with the drum machine, I'm wondering if I could connect them BOTH to the Evolver. I want more effect opportunities for both the Korg and the Boss but I'm not sure how I would keep everything in sync when I record (I have a one-person band).
