I'm fascinated by artificial life, but am just a novice. A program (or possibly firmware)that mimics the coginition of living organisms more so than their physical behaviors, but it's hard to separate the two I suppose. At what point and to what extent does free will exist independently of genetic programming (instincts evolved through environmental conditioning), seem hard questions to answer let alone mimic with technology.
