Video duration: 304 seconds Complete Power of Desire sequence from GaoGaiGar episode 25, starting from Mic's Disc M and leading through the Goldion Hammer. My apologies, though. Anime in Action ((the fansubbers of the series)) did a rather lackluster job translating things at times, including the song. Both of them have their good and "bad" points. But they are both equally awesome.
By: SilentJi. on 15 Oct 08, 16:01:37
Also, TTGL just fought on a large scale and didn't exactly destroy a universe in the same sense that the Genesic did. Besides, the Gurren crew would've been in the same situation as the Gutsy Galaxy Guard - both the TTGL and GGGG (Galeollia Road, anybody?) are capable of cross-dimensions (which would've saved them from the alternate one they were trapped in), but they lacked the energy to. So, you're point's kind of moot there. I found both finales to be equally entertaining. :|
By: SilentJi. on 15 Oct 08, 15:56:09
You also forget that Gurren-Lagann has weaknesses of its own; it's not nigh invincible, you know. As proven throughout the series, it expends energy pretty quickly and would typically be overpowered, if not for an external force intervening - Simon was beaten against Thymilph, Genome, and Anti-Spiral, only to be saved by a trump. Guy, on the other hand, has shown that he only requires the 'oath sworn in courage' to fight on, as seen in FINAL.
By: SilentJi. on 15 Oct 08, 15:51:08
Keep in mind that Simon doesn't just seep Spiral Energy, either - he requires the Core Drill to draw it out in large amounts for him. That aside, you can argue other series all you like, but what's established in the show's continuity is what counts. In terms of producing energy, if Simon absorbed the Core Drill, he'd become like Evoluder Guy (what with an absorbed G-Stone and all). Also, don't forget that TTGL needs multiple pilots to be on that scale, whereas the Genesic only needs one.
By: magnus1114. on 15 Oct 08, 02:03:57
He's an evoluder. At least within the show's continuity- that's what the show calls it. Go rewatch the final episode of the first series. He becomes an Evoluder in it- and the show /itself/ says so. You can't argue with what the show /itself/ says, dude.
By: YuunDaisuke. on 13 Oct 08, 13:47:57
I have an important note to point out. Guy is not an Evoluder. The Evoluder were originally made for Detonator Orgun and they are bio-nervous system controlled sentient battle-suits. Also GaoGaiGar has a number of flaws, like it's protect shade can be blown off, it needs to combine, the g-stone can be blocked and overpowered. Not to mention it sports an open cockpit a sniper could kill the pilot... Gurren Lagann has no such weaknesses. But I agree both are awesome, just not comparable.
By: YuunDaisuke. on 10 Oct 08, 19:08:12
Let's all just agree both series are equally as entertaining, I just think TTGL is way more epic, I mean they destroyed an entire universe and lived to tell the tale whera's GGG did not survive they were destroyed by the collapsing space. Their technology, was inferior.
By: magnus1114. on 10 Oct 08, 17:36:34
You have to remember that as of Genesic, Guy is an Evoluder- the G-Stone is inherent in his biological makeup- as shown when he beat the crap out of Palparepa. And Arc-Gurren-Lagann, while transformed by Simon and Viral- you have to remember that it only worked because Leeron helped too. Without Leeron assuming the ship'd never transformed, well, it's not going to work. besides, CRUSHER KONNECTAH!
By: YuunDaisuke. on 09 Oct 08, 00:50:36
You forget an important Aspect. GaoGaiGar cant win against Arc-Gurren lagann, Simon made that one on his own without any external help at all and that machine was city sized. Gai doesn't produce energy at all. Everyone knows that, without the G-Stone he's utterly helpless and GaoGaiGar wont even move without it. Plus Palparepa destroyed GaoFighGar with external help easily but that's irrelevant. I'm saying, in terms of technology and energy TTGL is superior. Originality is dead anyway.
By: SilentJi. on 09 Oct 08, 00:20:17
Don't get me wrong, though - I ADORED TTGL as a series. It's just that I find it rather pointless to argue the "lolwho'stronger" debate, especially against something like the Genesic. :|
By: SilentJi. on 09 Oct 08, 00:18:42
Additionally, Guy's able to produce energy on his own, whereas Simon can't really go Super Saiyan for a quick boost - he requires extraneous forces, like Genome's Lazengan Overload, to get more power.
By: SilentJi. on 09 Oct 08, 00:18:31
As far as the GGGG v. TTGL "debate" (I use that term VERY loosely) goes, TTGL only wins in terms of being able to evolve/reconstitute, a la Getter Rays. Not only that, but the Genesic trumps TTGL in that it only requires one pilot, whereas the latter requires quite a few to be truly effective, and if it's Guy versus Simon, the winner's quite clear.
By: SilentJi. on 09 Oct 08, 00:18:03
To be perfectly honest, there are VERY few mecha series past the 70s that are truly original. I mean, the number of 'em that have attacks based on Rocket Punch are uncountable; that applies to TTGL, too - there's simply no denying the stark similarities between its themes and those of Getter, GaoGaiGar, and so on. The "loloriginal!" debate is ALWAYS moot, so just stop whining about originality.
By: YuunDaisuke. on 09 Oct 08, 00:10:51
Simple. I enjoy watching it, because its not a rip-off to me. I like hugely overpowered machines and despise low-powered realistic ones, and the energy isn't infinate you dope. It's effected by mental states, the will to fight, can be zapped by desperation and despair. The energy has infinate uses but almost as many glitches. Besides you cant compare mechs that are 'regular size' to something like TTGL. To me its unique and very good entertainment. No matter what you say, I love both series.
By: Taoto. on 09 Oct 08, 00:05:57
I tried to get into TTGL once, then I realized that Spiral Energy just a lame rip-off of Getter Rays, and that TTGL was a Shin Getter rip-off by being a "mech with infinite, evolving energy". And Go Nagai's works are much better than TTGL anyways. All you're really telling me is that it's a giant collection of drills filled with Getter Rays and protected by a Zonder Barrier, that can magically break EVERY law of physics and be the size of a galaxy yet move instantly. Why would I watch that?
By: YuunDaisuke. on 08 Oct 08, 23:59:46
Listen, go watch the show, it is that big and the pilots are protected by a Spiral Field which negates all attacks GaoGaiGar could mount. Not to mention it reacts with the speed of a regular human since the piloting system interprets bio-electricity from the brain, essentially thoughts and implements them into the machine, thus making it move. Not to mention, the Spiral Recocnition System would allow them to locate GaoGaiGar by merely thinking off him, that's how their warp systems work.
By: Taoto. on 08 Oct 08, 23:57:17
Utter nonsense. If TTGL is as big as a galaxy, then it would be far too big to even be able to spot Genesic GaoGaiGar, and probably too big to use effectively in any sort of fight. Hell, if it were that big, all Gai'd have to do is Broken Magnum at the pilots. TTGL would be far too large to cover that distance in the time needed, would probably take damage from the planets and stars along the way, and might even hit itself because it can't see the rest of its body.
By: YuunDaisuke. on 08 Oct 08, 23:52:35
Wrong. Courage can be broken by despair just like anything else. And Z-Masters are down right pathetic compared to the Han-Rasen, or Anti-Spiral race that could do anything with the technology they had. And TTGL is the size of a galaxy, a giant hammer wont even scratch the paint job no matter how strong it gets because lets face it, the powerful GaoGaiGar is what you call a 'regular' super robot. Plus the technology is different, everything is different its pointless to argue.
By: Taoto. on 08 Oct 08, 23:48:55
The will to survive and evolve? How is that any different than COURAGE and GUTS? The G Stone is there to amplify the power of COURAGE that Gai generates. And we all know what happens when Gai is facing an enemy with "infinite regeneration". And can only destroy planets? Goldion Crusher took out each of the Paraparepas individually, only struck the PasQ Machine inside Pisa Sol's fake sun, and was developed specifically for Z-Master class enemies, which TTGL would be if it's that big.
By: StoreWar1. on 08 Oct 08, 19:50:48
Genesic Gaogaigar is Gurren Laggan's father. Evedince? flight pack on Gurren Laggan= stealth gao. Explains alot?
By: YuunDaisuke. on 08 Oct 08, 14:20:03
I think whoever says GaoGaiGar is a match for Gurren Lagann needs to do his research. GaoGaiGar is a powerful machine but nothing compared to Gurren Lagann who's power comes from the will to survive and evolve. Spiral Energy also defies the conversvational law of energy and thus is capable of infinate regeneration, also GaoGaiGars Goldion Crusher can only destroy planets, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is 12 million light years tall, nothing, absoloutely nothing can best that machine.
By: StoreWar1. on 07 Oct 08, 02:33:11
I know, it would hust look epic in a way. Very epic in a way.
By: Taoto. on 06 Oct 08, 00:49:59
Eh, why bother? GaoGaiGar fought enemies bigger than him without being Genesic. Gurren Laggan isn't that great in comparison anyways, and Gurren Laggan doesn't grow stronger simply from COURAGE and GUTS alone. And besides, with Goldion Crusher, GGGG easily wins.
By: StoreWar1. on 06 Oct 08, 00:46:54
Now only if we can make Genecic Gaogaigar big enough to fight Tengen Toppa Gurren Laggan...

He's talking about Ryusei Date, a Banpresto Original character who appears in multiple SRW games, and who totally loves giant robots. Ryusei's name does not use the kanji for dragon. Ah, I might be wrong on this, but I think the kanji basically mean 'rising saint' or perhaps 'noble saint'. ...It is also a pun, for his Falling Star Slash attack name.
