I'm not on a soap-box. I like to listen to a variety of different kinds of music. I think I've even enjoyed some of the Cuban-Afro stuff you mentioned. The thing is, no matter what kind of music it is, music works on mathematical and scientific principles. A=440 is the standard pitch universally recognized now. For music to sound good, the notes have to be within a certain number of cents of acceptability or else the chords sound harsh and discordant. That is called bad playing.

by the way, I wanted to add to the discussion of whether this is in tune or not... why does it matter? I come from the background of listening to Cuban and Afro-Cuban music. Now, the guitar here sounds very similar to the sound of a Cuban "Tres". I think it's a warm sound, and it adds a lot to the song. digglefallen93, bird probably doesn't know he's out of tune because his 'ear' is faulty. If he was doing it 'on purpose', nobody can 'force' him to play in tune. Every modern musical instrument is finely honed in order to obtain 'true' notes. The instrument can be adjusted, but if the player has 'no ear', like bird, then there's no chance of good music to come out of it. Apart from that, bird's stuff is stupid with no music in it, and very boring. If it was good, I could excuse the 'odd' note.

BytheWingsofIcarus, nice one! But we call that (combi)nation, that is of speaker/speakers and amplifier: a combo. It is called that in a lot of music stores. You don't call a system that utilizes an amp and speaker just a speaker. Of course without each other ( amp and speaker ) no sound would be produced. But someone was calling a speaker and amplifier and that is not correct.

As a classical percussionist of eight years and a drummer for five (the world hasn't revolved enough times for me to be doing this any longer, and I cannot say that I've "backed any of today's finest", even though that statement is purely relative), I would not say that his drumming choices are those of some ham-fisted neanderthal. This may not be the most exemplary instance of drumming on his part, but still, you cannot deem this man unskilled.

Umbrellaassault, if dosh can even do those basics I might have some respect but he clearly has no grasp on the necessary rudiments. Our drummer is top notch and has backed some of today's greats and the finesse involved to produce what dosh is trying to do takes immense talent. Dosh is a very poor example of a beginner. He is not a qualified drummer, so he fits right in with bird the third.

Finesse in drumming takes talent, dosh doesn't have it and is not a rated musician.
