Pretty awesome vid and demo, i'll watch the rest of the series when i get to a pc with fast enough internet.(as it took me well over an hour to load this one.) PS:A freeware program called "arppe2600va" emulates the ARP 2600 and can be midi controlled by an external device. If you google search it it shouldnt be hard to find.

pt.5 This is the exit door from the moral dilemmas that would condemn us to hell for the choices we make, the inflexible codes that demand we live an impossibly pure life. It is redemption and is similar to the redemption of Faust at the end of the story, at least in Goethe's version. Interestingly, the song preceding this one is currently called "Faust Arp." If you had taken the time to correlate your data, you would've realized the ARP String Ensemble came out well AFTER the recordings of Funeral for a Friend were undertaken in 1973. ruined every concert I'll ever see from then on. Amazing. I camped out over night, didn't get a whole lot to eat, I'd had my wisdom teeth out 2 days earlier, singed all the hair off my arms trying to keep warm over a portable stove, got soaked.....but it didn't even matter. I still dream about that concert.... Plus my friend caught Jonny's pick, and I got to touch it. :)

If we're talking about Paninaro by Pet Shop Boys, I would guess the sound comes from a Roland JX8P or something in that family. It sounds more like synced oscillators. Remember that this is in the middle of the 80s, a real low point for brands like moog and ARP.

I think the volume drops with the increase in resonance because the sound is still very piercing in self-oscillator, and the volume drop keeps it from destroying your ears... possibly.
