American propaganda? What movie were you watching? You mean that 2-second shot of Spiderman running in front of the American flag? But I think this a movie worth reviewing- tons of people loved the movie (Including myself), but I did think it was tons worse than 2. I think even with all its flaws, its still at least middle ground as far as superhero movies go. I hope Matthew introduces some new arguments, this movie has been discussed hundreds of times and people usually attack the same points.

For me, the 1st movie was ok but the ending sucked ass. The 2nd movie was a lot better. The 3rd movie was even better still! But I'm always willing to give ConMatt a listen. I mostly agree with his reviews and even the ones I don't agree with, it's still entertaining to watch.

I don't think the first were perfect either. All the Star Wars movies have glaring flaws, but we love them anyways because they made our imaginations spark as children. I mean it's an amazing thing to get a kid excited about science and space and the basics of drama. But that's Star War's point. To get KIDS excited. The Star Wars saga is meant for children. Sure, it's going to sometimes appeal to a higher demographic, but that's not what its job is. I enjoyed Jar Jar when I saw him at 9, and my brother enjoys him as well. Thus, he's a success. That I am annoyed by him later is of no consequence. In my opinion, anyway, the prequels kind of get a bad rap from the same people who've totally forgotten the Ewoks, the dialouge, and the outfits from the originals. This was never quality.

saying I don't understand why that and why that won't suffice in convincing a true cinephile that the film is trash. I respect everybody's opinion, yet I hope it will be supported by powerful arguments. I really liked the Matrix sequel review because you brought up and denounced the philosophial redundant references the Wachowsky brothers make in those follow-ups. hi matthew. if you're gonna review Kill Bill or 2001 (which I consider a flawless masterpiece of the seventha art, with innumerable symbols, a powerful message and a never ending story, aka the best film of all time and probably on of the most important artistic works of all time; reminder that you called it "awful"). anyway you have the right to an opinion, just keep in mind that attacking a film like 2001 would probably require a 5 video review as you have to decifer Kubrick's hidden message

As much as I like many of your reviews and think you do have moments of great humor, it's less funny and moreso just juvenile and annoying for you to give stupid voices like the ones you give to Anakin. Great reviews ConfusedMatthew! It's nice to know I'm not the only one who thinks the prequels are garbage. One thing you didn't mention though that I found brain-breaking is that Palpatine is the leader of the Republic and via Darth Sidious is also leader of the separatists. So basically what the entire Clone Wars boils down to is Pandabear having a war with himself! What for!? Why is he wasting all this time and resources when he is already in charge of both sides!?

Episode III is the better film of all the prequels because it kicks butt. However, I didn't like the opening scene that much over Coruscant and Count Dooku etc. The opening scenes were a waste of time and should have developed more character and friendship with obiwan and anakin. Damn the worst part of the prequels is that we don't feel any connection with any character except the droids and the babies luke and leia. WHO CARES ABOUT THEM IF WE CANNOT RELATE TO THEM?

But I did think Phantom Menace was decent and loved Revenge of the Sith. Lol, very good points. I do think that in some of these instances the force is Lucas' excuse to allow the impossible. And the scene with the fish monsters is a thinly veiled attempt to foreshadow the emergence of Darth Sidius/the emperor... which has already happened... so it's kind of pointless ("There's always a bigger fish"). And I suppose Qui-gon didn't reveal he was a jedi because the Tatooin citizens are hostile towards members of the republic. Not that he can't just kick their butts...

How is it that 3 people with money can't buy the part they need, but Anakin can build stuff? Where did he get the parts? Watto doesn't want the currency they are offering. Watto has parts of all kinds, but is unwilling to trade. Anakin gets the parts from Watto. Unlike Qui-Gon, he is willing to misappropriate some of the stuff that Watto owns. Why does the Republic have a queen in it? The Queen is the head of state of her planet. Some Republics like the United States have dual governmental systems. There is the central government with it's legislature, courts, and chief executive branch and then there are the states that also have their own legislatures, courts, and chief executive. I always kinda assumed that the blockade was set up by Palpatine to provoke the Republic. As like a first step in his scheme to take over the senate. I never really gave much more thought to it, since the movie isn't worth it, and so never saw of all the plot holes you uncover here. And now that I saw this review, I fully agree with you. Lucas gave us no explanation of what was going on! Good call.

Good for him, but first, I doubt he didn't get some help with some important questions answered by his sawwy relatives. And second, with the three, yeah, one can figure who is what, but the first and second ones plays everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) that's original from SW lore from the assumption the audience saw the original trilogy first (save Darth Sidious, who they actually try to make him ambiguous during the first film for people who didn't know the originals).

Once again Confused Matthew makes some excellent points about the Star Wars prequels. The flaws are numerous and are worth noting but sometimes Confused Matthew goes too far with some parts. For example, the reason Amidala did not freak out when Anakin said he killed woman and children was because THEY'RE SAND PEOPLE! Nobody cares about Sand People, they're percieved as dangerous barbarians by almost everyone who has heard of them. Amidala sees them as murderers and so does not care.

The only big complaint I have about Ep.III is, that its too short - I shit you not. The first two prequels totally wasted virtually four hours of anyones life and precious screenplay showing us Awful Kids, Podraces, freakin' Gungans and a 'lovestory' that bored anyone sane to death, that, when they finally arrived at the last film, they had to stuff anything really important into the last two hours. The film is much too rushed as a result.

It should be noted that the Shorts of Clone Wars before Ep III were good and actually showed, you know, that Obi Wan and Anakin were friends, showed that Grievious and Dooku weren't just fillers and even showed a remotely likeable Anakin... and then, all is gone to hell because the characters shown in the shorts can't possibly be the same as the ones in the Prequels... Also, it sucks that Anakin's vision was a self-fulfilling profecy... not that he needed reason to join the dark side...

To be fair - Janeway didn't really violate the prime directive in Caretaker. It was the battle voyager had with the kazon that led to deactivation of the self destruct sequence. So Janeway was just trying to fix up events that she was involve with by destroying the station. However you're right about the fuse though?

To be quite fair in relation for Janeway stranding her crew in the Delta Quadrant, what would have they done during the amount of time Tuvok claimed it would take to activate? 'It would take several hours to activate', since the pilot gives you the impression that Voyager and the Maquis ship were struggiling against the Kazon, would they be able to hold out for several hours? I am slightly biased towards Voyager considering it was my first Star Trek, but I do agree with some of the other points.

The basic premise of Voyager was good. The idea that a ship stranded in the delta quadrant and away from the federation and still stay true to federation ideals is a great idea. Also I believe that Janeway and 7 of 9 were strong characters. I believe they were well act and had good character moment. However the problem was very poor writing and overly reliant on action scenes. The show could have been brilliant if they just thought the script through.

Well, I liked Seven of Nine, but I agree with pretty much all of your points. One thing I really dislike about Voyager is the Vidiians; it doesn't make a lot of sense that their bodies can adapt to alien parts but they can't cure the phage...that's like saying I can replace your lungs with Komodo dragon lungs, but you'll still have lung cancer.

THANK YOU! Caretaker was such a crapfest. The part about it that pisses me off the most, though, is not that she violated the Prime Directive. What gets me is her reason for destroying the array. She's afraid the Kazon will use the array to force the Ocampa out of their underground habitat. We've already been told that the Ocampa will have to surface anyway in 5 years, and even if they didn't... VOYAGER IS LEAVING ORBIT! How could they possibly protect the Ocampa if they're LEAVING?!
