i saw them warm up for Metallica as well this summer, and i guess the sound setup isnt adjusted to be ideal for the sword on those Metallica shows, i dunno:) HIM had the same problem the year before when Metallica came to Oslo, it was hard just to hear what songs they were playing at all..

Whereas I missed some of the already short first opener (The Sword), I had to sit through the entire Down show, and suffer through the overpowering bass, and rediculous stage-antics. Saw the same show, and totally agree. Wish that The Sword would've gotten to use the un-dumbed-down opener sound set up. Down was way weak, wandering around yelling at the crowd or whatever...anything but actually playing a song. And Metallica were their monstrous crush your skull self. My favorite show of theirs I've seen in some years.

Horns up for anyone who plugs straight in to old school Orange amps without wireless or pick holders on the mike stand... I was a fan in 30 seconds. You guys Killed! Props too for Year Long Disaster who opened. Same straight ahead guitar war machine! As a musician, I was pissed that there were only 100 people max in a great room to see something that's gonna blow up soon.

Practice makes perfect. I couldn't figure it out for the life of me until I took a road trip alone with a lot of good metal and hardcore and sang along. Then it kind of clicked. It all really comes from the back of the throat. You have to really get into it and not hold back or be dismayed if it doesn't come out right. People think it's just "screaming" but it's more complicated. Scream all you want, you'd pass out on stage. This kind of singing must be controlled accurately to sound good.

Keep the camera as low as possible. Don't use the vieuwfinder or the LCD screen. Just concentrate on the camera being pointed at the pup. Zoom the lens out as wide as possible. In this way it's easy to keep the puppy framed. It takes a little time to get used to this way of shooting but it's worth it
