Man i don t know what it is about this game but it s a long time since i posted this and it still gets new comments every day.
It has been rereleased several times since then but nowadays it can be difficult to find this gem. I wish you luck! i think it is still worth buying. ;)

they are the only reason i kept my PS2 :) what makes them amazing is how you connect to the characters. The animations makes them feel human and vunerable, and you feel you have to protect them. And then you find yourself getting attached...and Ico has the most heartbreaking end sequence ever

So... SoTC is the prequel to ICO. In SoTC Wander is turned into child after being sucked into that pool thing, if u look close u see his horns. In ICO the horned boy is Wander when he is grown up and the girl is the one he was trying to save in SoTC. The shadows u create in SoTC are enemies in ICO if im not mistaken, and the boy wears the same cloths in ICO and SoTC. Thye reused the animation from the psx/ps1 version and why not, they were already exelent. You'll notice that the acheivment on ps2 is making it extremely close to the CG work of the ps1 version, and thats why they went out on a limb to add shadows as well as did that cheap R2T low resolution to soften it. They even took the same exact textures from the CG if you notice.

It's doesn't matter. A lot of people don't know their assholes from their mouths, let alone a masterpiece from your run-of-the-mill graphics whore-fests. ICO was already a pretty graphically accomplished game on the PS2, but it's simply out of this world considering how it looked on a PSX tech demo. The best looking PSX game I could remember was probably MGS1, and this tech demo is still years ahead of that. I almost find it hard to believe that it's actually on the PSX.

Fumito Ueda, maintained that the game's status as a prequel was simply his personal take on the game and not necessarily its canon nature. Oh ok, sure. Don't take my opinion on games seriously, I have a rough time with Zelda games. I have Windwaker for Gamecube and have been trying (not consistantly) to beat it well over a year. Some folks might say we cannot compare the responsive controls of mario sonic or Halo to a less resposive controls of ICO, after all the is a lot more than Story and gameplay and AV to seperate a game from the rest. Chibi-Robo is a 5 inch tall robot that takes care of a House with a family and Dog in it. people want realism with fun, play chibi and get all the cleaning bonuses you like making the happiness of the family grow. Sound stupid? That's what I thought until I played it.

So every one should stand at attention when Mario Sonic Ico and Halo walk into the room? I see the attraction of this game, Graphics sound gameplay and story, but that does not mean I liked them. Consider this, I just stunk at this game and replaying it to get better wasn't in me. A lot of people are held captivated by this game, but not me, no matter how beautiful and exciting it is. I prefer Chibi Robo for Game cube over this, now that is an incredible game!

Maybe so, but the boys destiny (karma) is linked so much to the girl that he has to help her. In fact you could say that 'destiny' is hard-wired into the game itself. i.e. for him to progress, so must she.

In the PAL region version (Europe and Asia), there are very significant differences. Such as after Yorda opened the gate her hair was white, the Queen's shadows look different, Yorda's AI is much more improved, ect The NTSC (north america) region rushed to get ICO here so that's why in cutscenes the animation isnt as nice and Yorda is a bit dumb sometimes. In the PAL she'll help you with puzzles and you can hear her speak too.

Actually, Ico is NOT Wander, instead he is the decendant of Wander. Remember that in Shadow of the Colossus, he started the bloodline for horn kids, which makes him the first. However, in ICO, the main character is not the first horn kid, there were in fact many other horn kids that were sacraficed. So theres like a huge generation gap b/w Wander and Ico. If u wanna know more, search for shadow of the colossus in Wikipedia

I don't know if I can take this info seriously or not but here goes. On wikipedia...in is said by the game developers that Shadow of the Colossus is a prequel to ICO, and that Wander was the one that sires the line of horned boys. And that both games take place in the same world.
