lol ...and the funniest thing of all is, I got thing after graduating from high school in 2001! It has a state of the art sound system, new graphics card, I updated the RAM in 2005 (originally had 512), and then updated the keyboard and mouse too ...otherwise its the same CRT monitor. Once I get my new job I'll be buying a brand new computer, at the moment its just this one.

Why would I need any more than that? I'm not a gamer or anything ..the only thing I do, other than check my emails and do research, is record my own music into the Cubase. It runs beautifully with the memory it has.

Steve Jobs was playing up that mouse quite a bit. And that round mouse sucked! I remember it being a little awkward/uncomfortable to use. I remember computer stores selling plastic mouse enclosures that would fit over that round mouse to make it a little more comfortable to use. It wasn't long before Apple replaced that round mouse.

iMac originally stood for "Internet Mac" and was designed for internet connectivity. I think that's lost a little meaning over the years as pretty much all computers now have network connectivity. That is a brilliant computer, I wish we had these at school but I never saw one, ever. I like the idea of right/left USB ports for the mouse and the way the terminal was lit up (I could tell when he lifted the mouse). I also liked the man & woman kissing on the wall advert and the attention paid to the education sector. Of course the specs are dated as of sept 2008 (now) but back then it must have been quite something. The design still shines today, that's my opinion.

thats bull. people have problems with vista because theyr too stupid to change interfaces or because their computers are too crappy to run it. and its more powerful, so if ur complaining that ur programs dont work with it its because a more powerful program will come later. mac is so much more expensive for the price with such fewer program options that its not worth it unless u just want to show off.

whats also a bummer is that, they are making more games for the intel and g5 macs, well i guess they could run on a g4 because they say mac, then reqquirements and it says a 2.5ghtz prossecer or faster, and i only have g3 macs, but im getting a powerbook g4 17" aluminum and a 20" imac g4, at the moment i only have 2 g3 ibooks, the fastest is 320mgbs ram and 388mghtz with a 10GB harddrive (i upgraded) and 10.3.9

At this time I bought a PC with a P4 running at 3 GHz. I got 512 MB DDR400 DC and an ATi 9800XT superior to the competing nVidia FX5900. A DVD-Burner was also integrated as well as g-Wi-Fi and a TV-Tuner for only 999?... and a 17"-TFT for about 280?. Why did anyone buy these hyper-expensive machines those days? I've got an AMD 1.8GHz Dual-Core and a 250GB Hard drive. IT IS WORTH CRAP. IT IS GATEWAY. Right now, my processor is at 176 F: That is its idling temperature. When it first starts up it is around 135. Then in the next 2 minutes it skyrockets to about 170. Normal use causes about 185 and any games gets about 190. If I am playing a 3D game, 200 is the minimum. However, if it is playing a Hi-Q 3D game, don't be amazed if it hits 215. THAT IS FRICKING HOT. However, my iMac G3 is never over 120. HEHE

Correction for some: New macs suck. I currently own a 5 year-old HP that is wonderful. I hate my MacBook, though. For $1,000 I expect it to be flawless. I got a tiny hard drive, constant overheating (running at a nice 140°F here right now), no dedicated graphics, and programs constantly crashing. I also have an iMac G3. The thing is wonderful. It isn't fast, but it is a great cheap beginner's computer. MacOSX has more problems than vista. New macs suck.

Mac's aren't perfect, their good, thats why I want one, but their not perfect. Thats not really true jakestarnes123. The aluminum iMacs today are still pretty flat, contain super drives, and conceal all the connections in the back. Yeah, I quite agree. I'm sure they could do it and with a proper desktop optical drive (20x) versus the laptops drives in current iMacs (8x). I upgraded my iMac G4 1.25GHz 20" to 1.5GB RAM and a 320GB HDD back in 2005 and it's still going strong.
