Umm... I didn't trash ALL other music genres. Just the ones that get so much attention that they don't deserve. I have a lot of ill feelings towards rap and techno primarily because of the lack of talent it takes to make. You just push some buttons on a computer, and you've got a song. And most rappers don't even do that anymore. They pay someone to do it for them. Skill like this takes years to accomplish. I'm not saying there isn't talent out there anymore. It just often goes unappreciated.

+1. Check out Paco's "la barrosa" on the tube, any of Mclaughlin's groovy tunes (esp. latest tour with the 4th Dimension and amazing bass player Hadrien Ferraud), and forget about Dimeola. This is the "greatest flamenco tune" that contrived musicians feel proud to show around when it's really nothing like it. And this is a terrible performance too, D needs a tuner.

I never heard any of Di Meola's work and I never pointed him out specifically, but when I hear Yngwie I don't feel nothing i just listen and it's like "Wow impressive" but it doesn't make me feel anything no emotion what's so ever. That's me though if you do great, let's just call this a matter of opinion. Why do you believe that? Come on. Di Meola's tone is terrible, he's out of tune, he hits bum notes, and his soloing is completely directionless. Paco still can't seem to improvise over jazz chord progressions either. Now these guys all kill me at guitar playing, I'm just pointing out that everybody cites this as being so amazing, and it's probably the worst recording of any of them. I just don't get it.

I meant today. There are no tenors today who are even capable of half or Pav's vocal technique. Florez is good, but such a small, "mousy" sound to my ears. Pavarotti's untouchable. I don't care much for Bjorling (outside of his Pearlfisher's with Merrill - which I like mostly because I think Merrill is the baritone of the century), Kraus only tickles my fancy from time to time and I've never heard of Aragall. I'll go take a listen to him.

Well, i have to say that is true though. LOL Callas and Sutherland were both great Bel-Canto singers. Maria Callas had the phenomenal voice and the looks. But Joan Sutherland had the great coloratura agility and those awesome trills. Anyways, we're lucky that we had them both.

Some good comments about Callas' interpretation of this piece. My mother, a coloratura soprano,studied voice at Juilliard, and after a "nice" radio performance of this piece, demonstrated what SHOULD be done with it. She said Callas was perfect - perfect singing, but she let herself sound on the edge of madness. You can hear her hovering on the brink.
