I don't compare Enya with Loreena...others keep referring to them in the same breath, this annoys me as one is far more gifted than the other. Enya is all style and shallowness but if people are also shallow and into "fashion" then they will of course not notice this! That's okay..it's just life. I write beautiful songs but will never be popular as I'm not young, pretty or over produced..I have to get over it! C'estla vie.

Loreena is more than an Irish cover singer. Except for setting a few poems to her own music--The Highwayman, The Lady of Shallot, Stolen Child & Cymbeline--most of her lyrics her own. The music is more important & she writes the vast majority. Example: Parallel Dreams-8 tracks total, 2 are traditional. The others just sound like they are! The only exception is her 1st album Elemental w/ only 2 original songs. Over 75% of her music is all original--amazing for this genre steeped in tradition.

There is no reason to insult Enya as any comparisons to Loreena McKennitt are too shallow to be acknowledged. They are truly different types of music & singers and are only similar to those who listen to the music in the most superficial way (which is in itself a tragedy). Each artist has her own unique beauty & style, and I respect them both.

Ok! you are obviously a fan, as am I , but a bit harsh on Enya, certainly Loreena sets other people's great poetry to wonderful music, and is obviously a talented musician, wheareas most of Enya's is all her own. However A classic that Enya covered springs to mind ie Marble Halls, Which was lovely. I'm not rating either against the other, I just thought your comparison and description a bit extreme?

Loreena is music from heaven rooted in the earth....Enya is a joke when compared to work such as this, all style with no substance. I cannot understand why people cannot hear the difference ...Loreena makes us see, Enya is nothing but shallowness and style, this needs to be said but maybe it's the "fans" that are to blame...they fall for the hype!

Thank you. The tunics caused me to make a mistake from the beginning, but I see very similiar tunics worn by Georgians in pictures I found on the web. Cossacks had a settlement in Grozny in northern Georgia also. It's all a new subject to me. I'm only 16. I appreciate the info I've learned here.

Wow..I have this song from long ago...it's beautiful....it also reminds me that we are entertwined and there are connections amongst cultures...this sounds like a byzantine chant in the beginning...but then sounds like middle eastern music...as well as greek influences but the song is in reality celtic....it's simply beautiful!
