I think that there is no real reson for the eyetraker in that kind of game. The mouse dosent shake that bad when you use the mouse, that you still need to click with the eyetraker. Cool idea but not practicall. Now the Quake video of this is somewhat practical because you dont need the mouse to fire, just reconfig your keybord. But no, not for NWN, somewhat stupid idea.

What I can't understand is why Bioware/Black Isle abandoned a winning formula. Okay, so they split up. But everything which has been made since, under the banner 'RPG', has been very poor in comparison. It might have had something to do with sales : BG, BG2 and P:T have been great sellers but slow-burners. No instant money. Like a great song they've had to suffer lack of fame in the short term. Shame on developers and publishers !

My guess is that eventually somebody will realize just how good the BGs (and Torment) were and will revert to type. It may take 5 or 6 (or more) years, however. What Bioware/Black Isle achieved in the IE games was the pinnacle of possibility, imo. Keep your fingers crossed ! Bioware has still got the talent but somehow the magic of the earlier games has gone missing. No offence meant to NWN fans, in spite of what I said earlier. It's always the fans who decide, not the gaming press.

I understand, I loved the infinity engine games too. And the gold-box games before that(i am 30 so i grew up with those), bioware made bauldurs gate 1 & 2, while black-isle made ps:torment, and icewind dale 1 & 2, and fallout 2(and 3, but never released), Bioware has gone down hill since bg2! I blame that on the Crapbox! They should made hardcore pc games like black-isle(obsidain/troika) did. Now I only wonder after the next nwn exp. Who is going to make the next D&D game, and will 4thed be good

But the most serious deterioration in post-IE games is the quality of the writing - and that's why I've always wondered what part Black Isle Studios played in making the likes of BG etc. NWN may be a great multiplayer experience but it's (imo) a dull single-player game. I've never tried NWN2. I'm hoping for great things from Dragon Age, but my guess is that in ten years time the best RPGs will still be the IE games : 'If it ain't broke don't fix it' !

Noedius, thanks for the info. My original post was a bit harsh, perhaps, but I'm still nostalgic about the Infinity Engine games. They had a magic about them which has been lost in subsequent efforts, imo. I think the top-down perspective works better for party-based RPGs, though the rotating camera in NWN is an improvement on the static view in the IE games. I also prefer the older, more specialised character classes in the IE games. And a party of six characters is better imo. (cont'd)

fyi..most of the devs from black isle, went on to form troika and obsidian, troika made temple of elemental evil, and vampire the masquarade:bloodlines, (spectacluar games) but they are no longer :(, Obsidian made kotor 2,and nwn2, kotor while good was rushed to be done in a year after kotor1, nwn2 is great, but its phenominal now with mask of the betrayer, patches, user created mods/haks, and it has adventure pak and expansion for this fall! gives dynamic overland map and full party creation

NWN is awful, mind-numbingly boring rubbish. The Infinty Engine games were far, far better. BioWare's work has gone sharply downhill since they parted company with Black Isle Studios. Black Isle should re-form : they were the kings of writing. BioWare couldn't write a shopping-list by themselves. The only developers who are worse at dialogue are Bethesda. The NPCs in Morrowind and Oblivion are totally lacking in personality and individuality. The same applies to NWN : dull, dull, dull !

I tried playing DDO, but I pissed the GM off. I made a guild called 'GM Roseia doesnt like women washing dishes'. Apparently they didnt like that, so they 3 day banned me. Funny, Id been playing since launch. I made it because she told me to take down an LFM group that was titled "Barack Hussein Obama is garbage". Although there were other groups named "Black Panthers", "Black Power", "GOP sucks" and "McCain is mcsame". I cancelled my account today as a result.

Agree! I dont play this kind of games but i always go to the mall and there's a bunch of kids playing WOW and that's the only game they know, is a shame 'cuz NW2 is more sharp and focus game ive playing this game, and i can say is better than WOW , btw World of Warcraft to me is like Mc Donald's, very popular but actually is not THAT good; in fact Mc Donald's is a shite. :D Seeya!

ok firstly a different company made it, they bought it and got special help from the company who made started it (bioware), it is not as popular as nwn because its internet isnt too amazing. toolsets too complicated apparently and they took out some classes X_X like assassin or something. yeh thats what im gonna do if i plan getting it( downlaod enhanced edition) though im not sure it plays well engine wise, the auror engine is relly bad , well with nwn2 it is,i have a decent pc 8800 gt amp edition sort of specs an i play other games to my liking but with nmn2 i get around 27-60+ so it dives allot an it looks pretty crappy on low, is the witcher the same, cus if it is then i might think about gettin it.

hello i just got the witcher enhance edition the other day and. . . . its awesome. if you like oblivion you will like this! even if you dont get the enhanced edition you can download a patch for free from everyhwere (even thoug in game the shop they charge an extra tenner for the Ehanced edition.) it doesnt have the freedom of oblivion but overcomes that with goot storyline and gameplay. Worth a go!

dude i have a 7600gt, e2160, 2 gig ram blah blah and my gfx isn't great spikes often and that's not even on max settings. I'm on like less than half the max settings atm. The game gfx is so shit. Yet I run other games @ max settings and i get, like Bubba says, 50-100fps. The pixels I see on low settings = Games from 2002-2003 in terms of quality and yet it demands more power & still spikes. The gameplay is so slow it's not even fun.

ti pare che se qualcuno avesse avuto agganci con i gm li avrebbe evidenziati così tanto con un video? sono stata io a contattare i gm per chiedere se esisteva su metin uno spazio tipo arena dove trovarci, lui entusiasta dell'evento che avevamo organizzato ha deciso di darci una mano a renderlo più bello, se altre persone avessero iniziative belle come la nostra di sicuro aiuterebbero anche loro. ps non ci clonate però

right now, NWN is the only real rpg left. there used to be more in the past but they have all died out. i agree that NWN 1 was better but i really enjoyed playing NWN 2 as well. especially when you look at the other options...in any case, let us hope they keep up the good work :)

This is my opinion, but i beli. eve that NWN 1 is arguably the better game of the two. But i also believe that Bioshock made one hell of a follow-up to NWN 1, to their credit. Usually good games have crappy follow-ups. Like Kingdom Hearts, well the follow-up isn't exactly a crappy game but the story just folds into itself continously which can be annoying. Whilst NWN doesn't do this, Which i find fantastic. Bioware FTW!!!
