What expert said we would run out of oil 10 years ago? I did hear that Hubbert said we might reach peak oil in the early 90s. Is that what you mean? How can I refute your claim of 100yrs if I don't know where you got it from? If oil consumption doubles every 35 years (I think it's longer now), that means that in order to have enough oil for 100 years, we would have to have 4 times the oil we ever used up to this point. That's still an amazing claim you're making.

Even as an Obama supporter, I would like to see more compromise on this. It seems unreasonable to expect that in ten years, we would not benefit greatly from being able to rely on our own oil resource, while at the same time ensuring we invest in renewable, domestic sources of energy (like natural gas and wind). If republicans say we need to drill how would any public official be against the use it or loose it plan so oil companies would have to drill on land they currently have or they loose it (since the alleged issue is access to more areas to drill, why not agree to use current areas of oil or let them go if nothing is there?). While the world wide demand continues to increase, U.S demand has peaked. If we can add a mere 2 million brls. of production a day, you would go from a shortage to a surplus which would stabilize the price and ultimately reduce it for the sole reason of a reduction in speculative fears.

Yes the parts are completely submerged in the oil, the reason mineral oil is used instead of water is that the oil is only heat inductive, not electrical. So the parts won't short out or anything but the head still moves.

Probably. It looks like the bubbles circulate the oil and heat better than the fan. Put the bubble maker below the CPU and video card (only if the vid card produces a lot of heat). The bubbles should move the heat to the surface of the tank better than the fan.

I received an investment newsletter today, it deals mainly with energy investments. It said, Ghawar Oil Field, the largest in the world, at current production rates, will be 100% dry in 871 days. Now, oil fields dont get completely dry so you can expect it to stop producing in, maybe 600 days. Then the smaller fields will deplete at a much more rapid pace. I am not a doomsdayer, but i believe governments do not want people to know the possible difficulties waiting the world.

Technology is not the same as energy. Nanotechnologies still require energy input. Nothing we've developed yet has as much energy density as well as portability of oil. In the documentary "The Power of Community" which Megan talked about, we see how Cubans survived the sudden withdrawal of oil from their country. It was survival not necessarily preference.

"Oil Companies" are actually Energy Suppliers and Exxon provides most of the Uranium to nuclear plants as well and Chevron is the largest producwer of commercial Geothermal Power and also Hydro-Electric. Saudis don't have as much oil that they say they do, but they are intentionally trickling the spigot. Truth of the matter is that a barrel is 47 gallons, and the Saudis get about 5 cents a gallon, and the Oil Companies make 10 cents a gallon of their end of the deal with government subsidies covering the loss of about $7 a gallon in transporting it and selling it to a refiner.
