He wasn't trying to compare the movies, but rather the character development. Which is exactly why I enjoyed the action sequences but didn't give a damn about Tony, his wife and anyone else, maybe his kid sister and his friend developing a relationship but that was a footnote that could have created a stronger more interesting story especially considering this movie is almost 3 hours long. I spaced through half of it.
