cacoteixeira- I'm pretty familiar with Maracatu and I personally don't see the difference. I think the "familiarity" raulfist was mentioning comes from the uniqueness of the toe drummer. Very few actually good rock groups can change time signatures and use changing time accents and sound this good. Maracatu music generally have at least 5 drummers, so to say they are more "complex" is kind of like comparing apples to oranges. Dunno...

@raulfist: I think you meant "Maracatu". When the drums start, I could feel the resemblance, not too much though. The rhythm patterns for the drums and percussion in Maracatu are more complex. You can hear some searching for "Nação Zumbi". Bye!

I really like Enslaved, and im not saying bad about the band but i think if they had a nice drummer would be really nice, like Amon Amarth drummer or Ensiferum. Enslaved songs dont have double pedal and the songs that have it arent good enought. It would give more power for the band, but this is only my opinion.

I have to disagree, Slaughter of the soul is repetive, not outstanding. It has no bizzare riffs such as The red in the sky is ours~ or anything special. The riffs are melodic, but boring typical melodic death metal. Slaughter of the soul is also an big influence for metalcore.

I also like today's BLOODBATH which are heavily influenced by this sound. Not a great video but the song RULES. I was sorry the band got more rock oriented in later years because the debut was much more pure, much heavier, much more appealing to MrKLUKE.

Couple of words of advice: 1.There's a book called Kodo by Kensho Furuyama.....memorise it. :D 2.Ask lots of questions, but after the class has finished so you don't disturb training. Lot's of people quit Aikido because they just don't get it. Then they go on youtube and make out like they do :D 3. Take Aikido for what you experience it to be, not what you want it to be. 4. Talk to the people you train with, they've all been through what you're about to go through, learn from them.
