Undoubtably the best singer the world has ever seen. I know Paul Potts is good, but it isn't about making your lungs bigger, I don't know who that guy below thinks he is but that's bollocks. It's about honing natural born talent, and without it you can't ever be as good as someone with it. The fact of the matter is that Paul Potts is not anywhere near in the vicinity of Pavarotti's talent, and anyone who argues that is absolutely out of their heads. how long you hold a note doesn't measure the skill of an opera singer. Pavarotti had been singing opera for over 40 years here, and his lounges are extremely big which makes him able to hold tones for a longer time. Paul isn't even 40 years old, and he's tiny compared to Pavarotti's size :)

I think the idea of a duet was a great, but to pick Bono as his other was somewhat a bad choice. I understand it was an anti-war, cry for peace performance. I don't think this is about who sings the "Ave" better, like on "American Idol". Quite the opposite, imho, is intended. I think this duet was meant to juxtapose the deep and mournful traditional beauty of the "Ave" (Pavarotti)with the modern realities of life and war that humanity still struggles with. Excuse me? Not a good vocal performances. You are obviously not a fan of anything other than classical music. I can see most of ur videos or "favorites" are Pavarotti. she may be talented but you're fooling yourself if you think this is a good vocal performance. she finish's well but her tone and vocal control in the lower register has gone really bad, i think she'd admit this herself. as for vocal acrobatics there's a place for it but when you use it in every single line you sing it ceases to add anything to the song and will leave any intelligent listener wondering if the singer is really feeling the song or just getting off to the sound of their own voice

I don't think he should be called overrated. The fact that he is much more famous than caruso and lanza to the majority doesnt mean hes overrated. I think its just that Pav is more recent compared to Lanza. I wasn't around but Lanza must've been extreamley popular himself few decades ago.

Lanza is not a baritone; his voice is diverse, much more so than Pav. This is a lackluster performance when compared to Lanza's thunderous rendition. Pav did not have the voice nor the passion to sing this. He's overrated when compared to the legends.

I find I have trouble really enjoying listening to songs others have sang, that I heard him sing first. There is something in the quality of his voice that is just powerful, not loud but strong, with the ability to hold, rise or fall as naturally as breathing. Unlike others I've seen he doesn't strain his face or move awkwardly he just sings, its what he was meant to do and it's truly amazing to watch.

For those of you who think this is amazing, understand this: Pav just sang 10 difficult tenor arias in a row, and still sounds fresh with a clear ringing high B natural at the end. This is basically unheard of for any tenor... except for a recital Chris Merritt gives in 1987 (check it out on youtube) he delivers the same excellence and stamina.
