I agree with everyone, was big time let down with this film. In opening scene it was exactly like the game, cold chilling narrating then as the movie goes on it turns into an original film. Thought there was going to be more bullet time and more shoot outs. Was really let down because I was obsessed with the game.

Max Payne was a fun game in an interesting format. The story however was weak and predictable. The voice acting wasn't good. Why anyone would think this would turn into a good movie is beyond me. That being said, the story in most FPS is just deplorable. If we're going to pay $50 for a game, shouldn't we have a top notch story and voice acting?

Example: The one who dies at the end isn't that bitch that ran the company, instead it was Max's friend BB who works at AESIR (the company)

Habe mir den Film gerade im Kino angesehen und außer das die Charactere, wie im Spiel benannt werden (inklusive der Drogen), wird die geschichte abgeändert. Trotzdem, der Film war für mich geil, werde ihn auf jedenfall auf DVD kaufen. Einige Leute reden schon, das es nur einmal Bullettime gegeben hat. Wie war das denn, als der Junkie von der Valküre aus dem Fenster gezogen wurde z.B. Technisch gesehen, kann man jede Zeitlupenaktion in dem Film konkret "Bullettime" nennen.

Z.B. wird die Ermordung seiner Familie in dem Spiel viel brutaler und tragischer dargestellt. Allein dass die Musik aus dem Spiel fehlt regt mich auf. Außerdem frage ich mich was das soll, dass der Film ab 16 Jahre freigegeben ist. Die Spiele waren beide FSK 18. Da is doch klar das die Brutalität aus den Spielen in dem Film fehlt. Ich denke das ist Absicht gewesen, damit mehr Leute den Film sehen können und 20th Fox somit noch mehr Geld verdienen können. Wenn die nur wüssten was sie damit angestellt haben. Sure it didn't have the most original story line, the action sequences and the whole bullet time were ripped off the Matrix, but hey, who hasn't ripped off the Matrix these days? To put it bluntly. (Because I really do not have enough space to explain my point in detail.) Most video games to movies will always be bad because: A. Most video games storylines are ripped off from films anyway. B. In most video games you only control 1 protagonist. To just bring that to the big screen is boring. Cue- the annoying and previously unmentioned side character, who's job is to add more colour to the story, but instead brings a whole new terrible plot with them.

The reason people bitch about the plotline is that the plotline of the movie sucks. The original idea of the game was like a movie. The movie is ok, but what is missing: Alfred Woden & the inner circle, Vladimir Lem, and most importantly: The gloomy, depressed side of max payne. Even though they probably tried to make Max appear to be haunted by the ghosts of his past, they failed miserably and the character delivers about as much as 1 part of a chapter in the game.

well what do u expect? the game has it's own story... if they'd adapt every single bit of the game then it would be either a shoot out all the time and you'd have rambo starring max payne or you have a one hour movie, with the cut scenes of the game. Never expect a movie to show how the game is, coz as far as i know only silent hill was both in game and movie very similar. The max payne movie itself was good - obviously if u don't know the game. i think animation movie would have worked. I mean state of the art animation, so we're talking nearly film qality anyway. maybe keep the music the same as the game, and those breaks between levels were poetry is read, that would have been cool between scenes in the film. It should have been really dark, and very thick on plot - like the game. I do think they could have stuck to game plot. its only like a book being converted to a movie when you think about it. I havent seen it myself.

Yes! the movie has to go to the Plot of the game. not exacly but how LUPINO dies Max kills him NOT BB...also ALEX doesnt die in MAX apartment he dies in at the Subway... and there are alot of stuff that they change and i agree with the guy in the video i was disapointed aswell. But hypothetically the movie was great..

Easily the greatest 3rd person shooter ever made! Not only was the gameplay revolutionary in every way when it came out, but it was backed by a movie quality story and a lead character who was something...I don't know...out of the old days. A beautifully violent poet who wasn't afraid to just man up, walk up to the front door, kick it down, and shoot the shit out of everyone who gets in his way, and make right right. Too bad the movie sucked sooooo bad.

He had his own trio for a while and also played in Harry James's band, ultimately passing away much too young in 1979. Maybe this is just a Basie fan talking, but I wouldn't really place Sonny Payne even a single notch below Krupa, Rich, or Roach--the guy was simply a giant of 20th-century music.
