Yes, this IS the young woman who toured as "Little Peggy March" but IS NOT the one who did the actual recording. MANY years back the National Enquirer did a VERY good, in-depth investigation into all this and revealed that the record company did indeed market a young woman as "Little Peggy March" instead of the girl who actually did this recording. I think you are the 1 who isn't getting it. It's perfectly fine if Valentiae wants to hear the song as whining from an impossible woman, always making everybody's life impossible. MY POINT is that neither original songwriters (L & S) nor hit singer (PL) thought about it that way. Nor Thomas Mann, nor Tony Bennett (since they give us a male character). So, nothing wrong with Valentiae's own take, but the record of what the original songmakers attempted shouldn't be ignored, either.

Can't tell if you are REAL serious when you write "seriously .. a legend?" but anyway, someone who spent over 50 years singing, had 12 Grammy nominations,+ one for an Oscar & another for an Emmy, won major Lifetime awards, wrote the music for Disney's movie Lady and the Tramp & voiced 4 of its characters, recorded more than 1,000 songs, wrote herself over 200, had over 60 chart hits ("Fever," "It's a Good Day," "Big Spender" ...) etc., etc., SURE is a legend!! :-))

I've listened to her all my life and I still don't understand how she does it. She was Petula Clark's idol. Petula could do it with hard work, voice control, technique, discipline, etc. But Mysterious Peggy? Nobody knows.

Her appearance on the Nat Cole Show speaks volumes for the character Miss Peggy Lee. You see, she took a chance going on the show because in was shone only on certain tv stations-none in South. Any white performer who qppeared on the Cole show was frowned upon.

Cleo, she sure knocked Fever out of the park. These older singers are slipping away slow but sure. This is the way those ballads should be sung. Ella Fitzgerald is another great one, there are many of her videos on here.

Shucks!! they removed the video of the 60's group Mamas & Papas singing this, it said something about posting violations. Don't understand that, they were just singing, I didn't see any comments that were inappropriate but guess it doesn't take much these days. I like Peggy singing about anything, she does this very well.

Dave Barbour was Peggy's husband back in the 1940's, but he wasn't her husband at the time of this video (1957). As great as he was, Dave was not an arranger, but an accompanist, guitarrist, and co-writer of songs. The (also great!) Riddle and Peggy worked together on two albums, "The Man I Love" and "Jump for Joy."
