Well, sometimes we don't want to finish it as quickly as possible. If we wanted short games, we wouldn't be playing an RPG! ^_^ Besides, there's the sheer challenge of beating Penance without Zanmato - achieving it can bring a real sense of accomplishment. If you REALLY want to finish the game quickly, I believe FFX has been completed in under twelve hours multiple times, I dunno what the exact record is. Try beating that. :P

Penance was put into the game just so that there was an "ultimate challenge" as such, one that only the best FFX players should be able to defeat. Using Zanmato might beat Penance, but... what's the point of that?

i am not sure if it is a magic or not but i never got over 20000HP damage. i didn`t bother using rikku`s super mighty G in second battle because i thought it was useless. you will be ok with over 40000HP. use twin star so that you don`t need to worry about your MP. you must have auto-haste for this guy. try to kill one hand per penace turn. hit 5 times on another hand and leave it until anothe hand appear. you will be having easy life with that strategy.

thanks mate. i did the same way as you did. i spent around 20 hrs to get all necessary armours from dark yojimbo. you have to be very lucky to get all of them with two empty slots. he is quite easy to beat if you maxed up your attributes. i used zamato and got five in-a-row a few years ago but too difficult. you have no chance without ribbon. it is annoying. good luck mate. you can see my character`s status if you haven`t. cheers mate.

I havnt bothered unlocking Penance bcoz i havnt defeated yojimbo 5 times yet(i can if i want to,iv defeted all other dark aeons)i dnt want to unlock penance yet bcoz if i keep fighting dark Yojimbo he drops some really rare stuff like weapons w/ BDL, and armors like BHL/Ribbon/BMPL/A-Haste and other great stuff...

@TidusFromUk, How much Hp do your characters have? If their Hp si over 30k, you Could use BHPL, Ribbon, Auto-Haste and Auto-Protect. Use stamina Tonic so you ahve 60k or more... With Auto-Protect and high defence, Obliteration does make sth. around 12k dmg. You can heal it with Final-Elixir(customized, when you are at critical hp. That´s the way how my Rikku survived Penance xD

Ah, you think that way, I see. Well, personally I think it's more convenient if everyone already has Protect and Haste "equipped", but theoretically your strategy allows for more possibilities. :P

Great spell, since it have a Cd of 10 seconds (8 with talents). Its also very mana efficient. My priest have this one, and i heal for 1100 health every tic for 3 tic. Only cost 224 mana which is nothing compared to my greater heal (600 mana, heals for 2600, and generate more threat. Disc healers are good this far, especially if they keep some points for the holy tree

Great start to what looks like will be a great video. I am still amazed though at how anyone can look at the answers from the text and still come up with penance, or falling away or read what Jesus said aboutt the pharisees and not see that the Catholic church embodies those exaxt qualities. It goes back to the time when the catholic church tried to convert many paganists to become catholic, they included many paganists beliefs so that the pagans would convert. Yea you have to dispose of all the dark aeons, which appear when you have the airship. once you've done that, you should get a little cutscene of Penance rising out of the Scar in the Calm Lands. You can then choose Penance as a destination with the airship.

you can obtain break hp limit with an item named "wings to discovery", you need 30 of these to get this ability customizing an armor, you can get this item of two ways, the first... win the chocobo race in remiem temple, you'll get 30 of these, but only once, the other one is beating shinryu, a monster from arena monsters, and i think there's a third way, you can beat nemesis(arena monsters) i think he'll drop some armor with break hp limit.

No. If you listen to Jeff's guitar work you can tell that the 75% of At Least That's What You Said is him. It's just like him. And to be honest, the solo sounds great but it's still on the shitty. Whenever there's a solo that goes on, and has lots of feedback and distortion then that's probably Tweedy. Cline is more formal with his parts. He shreds out yeah, but most of his work is very clean and beautiful. not say that rudged, raggedy guitar chops CAN'T be beautiful--you know what I mean!

This was most likely taped in early to mid 2004, prior to Leroy Bach leaving the band, and also prior to Jeff asking Nels Cline to join the band. Keep on dreaming of that Uncle Tupelo reunion though, but having listened to the last Son Volt album, albeit a very brief listen I ended just prior to complete nausea, I doubt Jay Farrar could recruit any willing participants.

I thought it was Nels Cline that did the Hell Is Chrome solo, as well as the At Least That's What you Said ender one, but Nels wasn't part of the band yet. Jim O'Rourke played some guitar and keyboards as a helper for the album, though. Is that what you were talking about?

i beat the emerald and ruby in 1 try, omega, took 2 tries, but finaly beat it, used oblivion and bahamuts super awesome attack, to beat it, i had tidus, yuna, and lulu, and lulu had 0 health, yuna at 132, and tidus at 745, barely won, then penance battle took 3 tries, i qui 4 a couple weeks, then took the final and third shot at it.

k if your "scared" of emerald and ruby...then this is the best possible materia combination you can have for the fight. my team consists of red xiii cloud and cid all with their best weapons (limited moon, ultima blade, venus gospel) have the materia counter linked with mime make sure all of ur materia is either mastered or close to being mastered link KOR with magic counter on one guy and KOR mp turbo on another. also, Phoenix and final attack just incase

I have beaten Emerald and Ruby. (Personally Emerald was MUCH MUCH easier despite what most people say.) Omega, didn't quite beat him because i don't have Holy Wars so I don't know how. Ozma = pussy Sephiroth, beaten to a pulp several times. Penance, now that is still impossible to me.

Personally, about your whole opening, Omega was a total pushover, but Ruby and Emerald scare the bejesus outa me! I've beat Sephiroth though, as long as you know what he's going to do he's not hard. In fact, lots of bosses loose their 'impossible' novelty once you know the trick to beating them, if there is one. ((With Seph you MUST have glide or your a dead man/woman.))

The Dark Aeons and Penance are ONLY in the International, in the same fashion that in the original Final Fantasy VII there are no Ruby or Emerald WEAPONs, but they were in the English version and the Japanese 'International' version that wasn't actually international.
