I sort of agree with that na55 said at first about comic-like drawing because the school I went to had a similar philosophy-- something like "don't draw lines but render edges". There is more to a likeness than perfect proportions. I have seen so many stiff and ugly photo-realistic drawings. There has to be some of the artist in the work. Most people have me draw them to find out how they look in my particular style, not for a photo-reproduction. THAT is the art and the joy of portraiture. Otherwise, you might as well use a camera. It is the viewpoint of the artist that makes it unique. I hope you will figure that out. You will enjoy your work much more.

he has good technique but does not achieve lkikness with the model ,an thats what makes portrait drawing difficult.you can use that technique when you draw for comics where no likness is required (when using referense material) , but its no real portrait drawing.so little erasing would help,you can not get each line right at first try.

I can't believe how immature and childish some of these comments are. As an artist, I can vouch for how hard it can be to draw just having people watch you, let alone filming, describing, and actually talking along the way. Having said that, I think the portrait DOES have a likeness to the model, so you're wrong in the end anyway. Great job. Five stars.

I like your style. You have great control of the pencil, and I can definitly learn a lot from you since I am venturing into the buisiness of drawing portraits. About the comment on learning to see... the portrait of this woman barely shows a likeness. Everyone is awed by your speed and how beautifully you have rendered the drawing, but your proportions and accuracy is lacking. I am hoping that is because of the speed at which you draw. Today there Blender which is free because that created it closed down and decided to put give Blender and GNU License so that it is still maintained and upgraded, free to download and use and state of the art. check it on the Net it is now a massive Open Source project. No, not Apple II's -- they were using Mac II's - that series of machines. There might have been some Performa's in there - not sure what year they came out - but they said that they even brought in machines from home to make the 'rendering grid'. Amazing.
