Es una mamada ese solo no dice nada, cualquier vibracion musical se rige por el unico y primordial deseo de un arte y es transmitir un sentimiento, mas aun en la improvisacion, este tipo lo que hace es una real y descarada forma de ego expuesta en una forma de tocar tambores, para mi gusto es una falta de respeto a quienes amammos el arte, no todo es imagen y estilo en este mundo se requiere conexion y no una simple idea egocentrica.

I'm not a master conga player but i wasn't really all that impressed. The crossover open tones and elbow muffs were cool, but as far as the rhythm is concerned, not much of a style that appeals to me.

Guys, I think some of you got me wrong.I didn't say that I'm a master in conga playing,I only said I'm taking lessons from a master conga player thats why I understand how the different sounds should be on the conga.I'm still learning and improving on my sound, I think you can always improve technique. The only problem I have is drummers who play on the congas and think that they can play but have no idea about the right technique and kill their hands. Rhythm has no boundaries, but principles :)

i'd say if they practiced a little more they would have gotten it right. it's not bad. but it's very off-tempo at times. Now for somebody who does percussion being off beat isn't really a good thing. it's mostly the guy on the drums who fucks up. the rest do a great job.

I agree with you, CovertCops, the drummer needs work. But I'm a drummer myself and I've recreated some of Shadow's stuff. Some of the drum patterns in both Building Steam...and Changeling are difficult to pull off. It's much easier to do it on the MPC like Shadow did.

yeah those people are excellent as well. but there's no need to get angry. i regard zakir hussain as one of the best tabla players not only because of his technical prowess, but also because of what he's done for indian music as a whole. he is famous because of his willingness to work with other forms of music which is something that indian music needs more of.

Do you understand what is going on in their minds while they are playing thise stuff? Meaning, can you explain the music/composition? Because, I am sure you know, its all improvised, played in a matter over like a hundred measure before coming back to the beggining while they are playing 11 over 5 (polyrhthms) without playing each note. meaning they will syncopate whatever number they are playing over 7/6, 4/9, 11/10, etc. Changing meters throughout each raga. Very entertaining. Never though someone could go that fast on any goblet percussion with no finger rolls. You should use finger rolls, you would be able to go faster. Nice cajon. I'm not sure but I think you just can't get stuck in one rhythm and sometimes you don't switch properly between rhythms. Either that or you just messed up the beats or something.

Mike Schäperclaus is one of the best percussionists in the world in my opinion. I've seen this group live and they're SO amazing. Terry Bozzio really found a purpose for his huge diatonic/chromatic tuned kit! Thumbs up!

He has serious feel even in a "compositional format" which most drummers cannot pull off!!!!!. Like I said before most drummers think dynamically, and rhythmically, but not melodically. He is by far the best compositional, and melodic player in the world. No one comes close. He can do it all. I wish he would show more of his chops though. I was just listening to the his work on UK "Danger Money" album...what he did on that album makes Tony Royster sound like a joke.

Amongst his peers Airto is almost universally considered a genius (and those who don't think he's a genius say he is a virtuoso). It is ok, to be ignorant of something wonderful like this, and it can sound kind of funny first time (just like Uni or Caviar might taste funny at first), but that is only because your taste for it has not been developed. The fact that every other percussionist in the world says it is great, should give you the confidence to spend the time to develop the taste.

Such an influence in my playing. He and the great Nana Vasconcelos were my 2 main reasons for becoming more of a percussionist than a hand drummer in the strict sense.
