To change in a full of accents is a fantastic performance, british (english, scottish , irish), canadian, american , australian , newzed,southafrican, caribbean, rare are the actors who can do that so perfectly; the british Anthony Hopkins playing english and american characters as "Nixon" or on the contrary John Hillerman a texan who plays a pure former british Sergeant Major in the "Magnum" series, flexibility of english is fantastic isn't it?

Hasn't he got a Morningside Edinburgh accent? I am an Englisher so I'm not sure of these things. His London accents were good, one of them sounded more like a Essex/Kent accent. Maybe Bromley or something.

I'm struggling with that logic. If a person hasn't done something they have no ability or right to form an opinion on another person doing it. So you have no opinion on music, film, art or comedy just because you have never done any of these things. I doubt it very much. Peter Sellers wasn't funny for me, that's my opinion. Peter Sellers wasn't a racist in his views, and he didn't mean to devalue Chinese or Indian people with his accents. These commercials were indeed shown at the time and I can remember them going out. The jewish characterisation by today's standards is hugely un-pc and I'm amzed they were getting away with it so late in the day. Having said that, Sellers is so completely into his work and not in the least walking the role just so he can pick up his cheque. There's a precision of character that goes right back to Fred Kite and makes you want to erase the later Panther movies. TBC ...

This is a variation on A Goon Character, Lew Cash a shady Jewish Theatrical impresario. The Ad Agency thought that they were getting another character, a cockney barrow-boy called "arry 'odges". Sellars pulled a stunt on them. At this time Sellars was quite mad and this is his very last work.

I've seen a remake of the third ad starring Peter Cook who was playing a pretty similar character but minus the sort of Shylock characteristic of Monte Casino which apparently the makers were continuously trying to get Sellers to ditch much to his consternation. They wanted more of a crafty cockney approach which they got with Cook. I don't know if these ads were ever released. The Cook versions of them were.
