Noise is the texture and random specks you see in shadows or on flat areas of colour (like a blue sky) on a photo. As the ISO increases, so does the noise. The greatest and the most versatil is Canon EOS 400D or 450D.. I have 400D and 40D and I prefeer the first.. less weight, and more or less the same quality. You can use a flash if you'd like to illuminate a person close to the camera - but it'll only be effective for a few meters, so if the subject is further way, don't bother.

You've got it - a small f-number means a large aperture and the maximum light coming through the lens, but also a small depth of field. A large f-number means a small aperture and more in focus, but less light gets in. You can use large f-numbers for night photography for a bigger depth of field, but you'll need longer shutter speeds to compensate for the small aperture, and if they go beyond 30 seconds, you'll need to use Bulb mode with a cable release. Ultimately it's all about experimenting!

He wasn't shooting faster than the strobes could recycle. The reason you're not seeing all the strobes fire each time is because the frame rate of this video is slow and doesn't capture the strobes going off every time.

thank you so much for posting this. I've tried my hardest to find a tutorial that did not include a digital camera. I love that you don't, and please post more if possible. Also if you could do more for beginners that would be great I have a friend who is trying to get into it and had quite an eye but no educational background in photography. Most digital SLR kit lenses have a maximum aperture in the f3.5 to f5.6 range depending on which end of the zoom range you are using. A 55mm lens at f5.6 will not give you a particularly shallow depth of field. To achieve this, you need either a longer lens such as 200mm or longer, or a wider aperture. Quite a few people like to use a fixed 50mm or 55mm lens with an aperture of f1.8 or f1.4 as their standard lens which gives greater opportunity to blur the background. Richard Brown.

So remember: 1 - Use the crappiest camera on the market, as long as Canon pays you to make it look great 2 - Wear sunglasses, expose and take your shots with them on 3 - Never take more than a second to compose the picture. 4 - Disable autofocus beep and possibly disable autofocus itself 4 - Never use bracketing or a polarizer to get detail in that burned white sky: with RAW you'll just be fine 5 - "All rules are meant to be broken", and this very one makes no exception so stick with the rules

I myself am a canon user, but true Hasselblad, Leaf, Phase One digi. backs are going to be superior to Canon and Nikon's offerings. The 1Ds Mk III and D3 from Nikon have sharpness near the same quality as medium format cameras but the megapixels aren't quite there. But if you look at Lara Ferroni she uses a Canon 5D/20D for food photgoraphy, the first time I saw it I thought "wow, she must use a Hassy...it was really encouraging to find out you didn't have to have a MF camera to do good work.

Just my two cents. I own a Nikon D50 and D200. I view the D40 series as a step backward in the entry level Digital SLR market. If you can't afford to go with the D80, the select the Cannon or Sony. Either are solid choices.

I know what you mean but not all the time. Sometimes it can be interesting to use a tele instead. I tend not to but I've often been confronted by people while using my 35 haha. Entertaining. People saying stuff like "your not allowed to photograph here" of course they are wrong... You can also get good candids by learning to shoot from the hip/waist with a wide angle so that noone knows you're shooting. Or get a camera with a viewfinder that flips up and use it as a waist level viewfinder. Another trick I use is to point the camera at the subject and look at another direction so they don't know you're photographing them.

You´re excused :D No, the light that is on is the MODELLING light, usually about 100/150 Watt. Around the modelling light is the actual flash (150 - 1000 W/s) which is triggered by the flash sender: If you look at it again you see the light is on, but when he takes his shot the flash goes off even with the modelling light on.

Sorry but this video is a complete misrepresentation of fact. I researched Kirlian while attending the Brooks Institute of Photography. It is simple imagery of a corona discharge created when an an object contacts a highly charged dielectic. After years of study NO relation to paranormal activity or medical diagnosis could be verified. Changes in skin moisture, voltage, humidity and object pressure were confirmed as the sources of the variations seen in color and intensity in a Kirlian image.

I learnt quite a few things even after doing a dozen weddings myself. Thanks for sharing your tips. People still do want posed shots as well as reportage style as I've seen a friend's nephew's wedding that was all reportage and it was terrible. Nobody took control and there was heads and stray bods of other people passing by the camera in almost every shot. You need a degree of control.

They sold 5DII to me. But, them what I should DO with my Minolta system (bodies and lenses). Who wants to buy my old film camera system? I was waiting for a very long time for Sony-Konica-Minolta manufacturer to bring the Full Frame. Come on! If focus points focus good, it can be better than Nikon's 51 Focus Points! Also, according to Popular Photography Canon doesn't focus as fast as Sony in bright lighting, but it does do a better job than that in low-light, even at -2 EV murk!

If that's your only gripe....well...talk about focusing (excuse the pun) on the negative. Photography has been around for a very long time before AF and if you stop relying on it 100% of the time your photography..and knowledge will imrove ten fold. The AF system in the 5d is actually ok and certainly would not hold me back from buying such an awesome camera.

I've watched several videos and read several reviews of the new 5D Mark II. I must admit at first I was skeptical. After reading the reviews and watching the videos, I am now very interested. I especially like Vincents video, Reverie, which was captured completely with the new 5D. sdijnfpo0jaisf, I have seen your negative posts on many of these, but have yet to see your review?
