I cannot ype today... Anyway. Most dogs that are truly dangerous are the ones in inexperienced hands. Most dangerous dogs are the dogs that look sweet, like my newest dog, a border collie. He bites other dogs, as well as anyone he's afraid of. He was abused though- in an animal shelter. Dogs are born sweet, kind creatures, capable of loving even after enduring terrible things. Pit bulls are a Molosser breed- one that was built for fighting. Unfortunately, some dogs are just mean- I had two Tibetan Mastiff pups, brother and sister. Mastiffs are also a molosser breed, so this is relevant. The boy, Giacomo, was really sweet, great dog. Love him still. But the sister? She bit everyone, and we did end up muzzling her a lot if we wanted to take her out around small children. I grew up around them, and she was always that way. BUT-

Due to the fact that most pit bull owners will not report that their dog is a pit bull, the number of pit bulls known to be owned is extremely unreliable. I would like to point out a possible mistake that could have happened in the counting of dog bites by certain breeds of dogs. Sometimes people count the amounts of bites. And since there's more labs and cockers than APBTs, there are going to be more bites by labs. I still do believe that APBTs aren't treated right. Almost every bad thing surrounding them is a myth, probably made up from bad breeders who sell the dogs to fighters.

I agree that owners should be punished. I emailed several internet sites that are opposed to breed specific legislation. All these sites had the tagline "Punish the deed, not the breed". I asked what actions they had taken to ensure owners of dogs that have attacked others are properly punished. I unhappily report that I have received no responses to my emails. I hope they're too busy pursuing criminal penalty legislation and aren't just hypocrites.

Pit bulls CAN be great with children! Sometimes they make perfect nanny dogs. :) It depends on the individual dog though. I met a pit bull named Shasta. I use to call her a pushy little princess because she had a very dominant personality. I would not trust her with a child for that reason. On the other hand, my cousin's pit bull mix is GREAT with her kids, because he is submissive by nature. It has nothing to do with breed, and I wish people would see that. :(

If anyone even dreams of banning my dogs, I'm outta here. My dog Ginger is a mixed breed that bears a slight resemblance to a wolf, and people have commented on her teeth. Ginger would not hurt a fly. My sister has two pits, one who was abandoned and abused, who she took off the street. He's the sweetest, gentlest creature I've ever met, and my sister can let her infant daughter play around him without the slightest bit of fear. Punish the deed, not the breed!

Very well said Bud. You are lucky to have dogs like that. Especially pits. So make them the embassadors of the breed. Sounds like your friend has a true Dobie too. Nothing wrong if a dog is in a protective posture. I own 3 Dobermans, and have 10 puppies. Friends that I get my dogs used to have no problem, but strangers. Thats another story. yep, i know just what pits were bred for. it's why they're the only breed i trust around strangers. they are single-handedly one of the worst 'guardian' breeds you can find, it's stupid why people try to breed and train them for that. my pits are cold fighters, scared of most dogs, so i'm not too worried, they're even at that uncertain stage, right around a year old, and they're still doing great. my friend's got a doberman, sweetest thing-unless she doesn't know you. then you're just dead.

Indeed, to each his breed. My boss is obsessed with Akvash, which have some terrible dog aggression, but are some of the best livestock guardians you can find. I'm glad you did the right thing with him, rather than keep him and find yourself in a world of hurt, like so many people do. Sometimes you just find a bad apple. I've had about two with corgis, could not stop them from trying to kill another dog, and they got aggressive with us, so it happens. good luck!

Took him to dog parks, pet stores, lots of walks, around people. But on my property it was diffrent with other dogs and some people. All breeds are bred for a purpose, and you cannot remove dissposition. I agree all working dog owners should be aware and responsible. You cannot socialize dissposition. Did you ever try socializing him? If you didn't, it would explain why you didn't know he wouldn't do well with other dogs. It's one reason why some people should never own them. It's a breed that requires lifetime socialization, stop once and trouble starts, as you seem to have found out.

Best dogs ever. i've owned 2, 1 which has passed away from cancer, the other 10 years old, and wouldn't hurt a fly. I don't understand why people can not take the time and effort into raising this breed appropriately. I work on the ranch so i'm not around them as much as i probably should, but that's why i have a job with each dog. megan, my female is a weight puller, dc, the male, is a therapy dog, and our little 2 month old baby girl is....well she doesn't do much....but they're always inside, i never leave them out, i always make sure to have a breakstick, just in case, and i always take them with me to walmart and petco. great socialization, until megan starts barking at her reflection

Well SAID and exatly true thank YOU. Also when you own a pit you have certain responcibilities. They are like raising a child they HAVE to be extremely loved and held and well fed and well cared for they should be indoor pets and never be on a chain or left alone for hours on end all these things cause aggression. I am a Housewife so I have lots of time to spend wiff my lil' baby :). Thank U for loving a PIT. I never liked dogs till I got to know a pit.

Not all dogs rag thats why we have the best breed to look after the police force is the german sheppard. They do not rag trust me i have got involved in a dog fight with two german sheppards and they bite and press down if you move an inch! If all dogs are bad news explain the labrador and other family dogs. Dog breeds were breeded for a purpose hence the certain dog ban on most breeds. Yeah and so were Bulldogs,hence the name, they were not the only breed used but,all dogs rag, they were all trained to attack a much larger animal, it is not instintual for a dog which is a pack animal to attack alone unless in self defence, thats the order of nature, it is the human that is the real beast,and even in those times i wonder what happend to the poor dogs that didnt want to attack the bull, probably suffered greatly at the hands of the person it was trying to please, poor dogs!

Noooooo...Why they play this song in a lower tonality live??? This is my favorite Testament song as well as one of the best metal song ever made, but it just isn't the same in a lower tonality, especially the fast main riff lacks energy. What a pity! I don't believe in any breed bans-" punish the deed, not the breed". In the majority of cases the pits were mistreated. The top three breeds for dogbites are cockers, dalmatians and chihuahua's. You are a saviour and champion of the most 'noble' breed of dog that I have known to be . The evil man does disgusts me but as always the innocent suffer ,please keep my pitbulls alive for the next generation to love them.

a have a pitbull and he is very suit, but well i go with him for a walk, every one is hely scared of him, that is crap, because because he is sut a nice dog.
