no thats not true, whether or not the Euphonium is pitched in C or in Bb is not dependent on whether the performer is reading bass-clef or if the performer is reading treble clef. Its determined during production while the instrument is being created, by the production manager. It has nothing to do with where the instrument will be delivered to or what sheet-music that the performer is reading. Its a done-deal as soon as it leaves the factory!

I used to be a tuba player (these I know are built in B-flat), but having read this argument I'm inclined to agree with mrcoolgenius. I have taken physics classes, so I know about waves. Its true that given the same lip pitching & the same key positions, it will make the same sound. That means they are built the same. bari, and macree, no offense but they are the same note. No, it's because they think in different keys. Trombones are 'built in Bb' but generally play in C bass clef (or C tenor). In a brass band and some brass ensembles though a trombone is in Bb and reads Bb treble. The same slide positions with the same lip pitching will still sound the same note, even though the player might call it a different note. It's the same with a euphonium, it transposes in different groups, but it's all the same in real pitch.

Euphonium is pitched in C if it is reading bass clef and it is pitched in Bb if it is reading treble clef.if you tell a treble cleff reader and a bass clef reader to play the same note, yes it will sound different unless they are playing the same cleff

No they're not, some are in b flat and play in transposed treble cleff, more like a trumpet, and some are in c and play in bass clef, more like a trombone. There is a difference. If you ask a b flat euphonium and c euphonium player to play the same note, it would be diferent because they are both in differnet keys. If they are in different keys, then they are definatley not the same instrument.

Your right, Holst did not write a movement for Pluto. Colin Matthews did write one and entitled it "Pluto, the Renewer." I read somewhere that he modified the end of "Neptune" so that it would transition straight into his "Pluto."

It was to my understanding that Holst never wrote a movement for Pluto. I read it wasn't discovered at a planet till 4 years before his death. He decided not to write a movement for it because he felt the success of "The Planets" was to great, and took too much focus away from his other works.

This guy's information is about 40 years out of date. Mercury doesn't always show one face to the Sun; it rotates twice for every three orbits. I imagine it's the mental state that these scientists get into that has a great appeal. Alignment with astronomical beauty and form, and it's power has it's own riches. It's possible that you are playing a different arrangement. There are many for different levels. I am playing this in school as well, only difference is that it's the original (by Holst, arranged by Holst). It's very similar to this one. To those in the vid--well done!
