I wish everyone would stop comparing this to Rimi's version and just accept this a different take on the song. I happen to like Yaida Hitomi a lot, and though I don't think her voice was made for songs like Nada Sousou, I still think she sounds perfectly fine. You're all boring people, and I bet you all dissed Macy Gray too initially.

Are you saying this because you like the original better? I just realized that this is a cover song. But anyway, I know what you mean by "pretentious ppl buy into the stuff about anything that sounds diff is supposed to be good" and I totally agree with you on that on certain music that are unmelodic and are simply...different. (eg avant garde) however, songs composed by Hitomi Yaida are actually quite enjoyable yet original at the same time imho.

1st of all, I don't know the language. Yet I found this song very touching. I've heard of Rimi's version. I must say Rimi's exhibits more emotional tenderness. Japanese is not Alan's 1st language. She might not transcend the depth of emotion as good as the native singer in Japanese. In terms of vocal technique & capacity(thanks to her training at Music Academy), Alan has great potential to surpass the native singer.

I have a friend from Okinawa, he grew up in a countryside family who still uses the"Uchinanchu" dialect. He LOVES Korean food and spice. Its true that their peoples follow more of Cheju S.Korean tastes naturally than Mainland Japanese. Its just a preference over traditional mainland Japanese culture/food.
