I reckon you are talking about World War II and the undisputable part Soviets had in it. But do you know what Stalin did to his most talented generals and commanders. He killed them and held them in concentration camps (he suspected conspiracies), therefore Soviets had big trouble handling Finland in The Winter war.

well, the windows are shattered and when it zooms out outside you can see the skyscrapers in ruins under mountains of snow. It would imply that the world is in nuclear winter after some sort of apocalyptic scenario. The building in the cartoon seems to be some sorta of bomb shelter or just an upperclass future type of place.

Their training schedule ranged from 25 hours a week to about 35. They had often ten or eleven coaches watching 20-25 gymnasts at a time. Their system could afford that. Imagine how good a gymnast you could be with 10+ coaches watching and correcting? Anyways, this part of the sport has to come back somehow.
