It was filmed at the Universal Amphitheater in LA in 1989. It's also somewhat 'historic' as being the very first digital video live recording. Had a chance to go with two friends, but I thought ah, I'll just get a copy of the video. Then they released it on VHS about a year later. Be nice if someone could upload the rest of the concert, they play a lot of Townshend's stuff from his White City album, and some Who classics. Great live recording of 'Dig', a 'Who song' on White City.

Well yeah, but Dimmu Borgir and Children of Bodom don't have much in common with the likes of The Who and Led Zepplin and the like. Or at least not sonically. Their styles (Black Metal and Melodic Death Metal) are obviously a derivation from it in one way or another - but its still not entirely an influence. Its a long stretch, as if to say all humans are indirectly related. (Ie: Classic Rock > Modern Rock > Punk > Metal > Individual Niche Genres) Good stuff either way though.

I absolutely adore the opera! Tommy has been a lifelong (well, nearly) favourite; I've had it on vinyl, 8-track (Remeber them?), cassette, and two different CD's - including a gold version. This version is astiunding. The only guest who turns me off is Billy Idol, who spoils the continuity wih his showboating. Other than that, all I can say is "WOW!!". Thanks for posting..

It's not often that the Angels of Heaven look down on the earth, and stand in amazement at what God created recently. I think each time Tommy E plays AMAZING GRACE, they stand silent until he is done. If THIS rendition of Amazing Grace didn't "grab ya", then just head to the nearest cemetery and sign in cause you must be dead!! Although someone that has EXPERIENCED God's Amazing Grace can appreciate this song more, IMO even an atheist would have to admit this song is SWEET. Thanks Tommy E.

to scootfd3s, that is a very difficult question to answer. Tommy uses a lot of different techniques on this song. But on acoustic every technique is impossible. Many electric shredders can do virtually every technique in a given song. Its great if you want that, but if you listen to a lot of Tommy like I do and a lot of other great acoustic players as well, he is technically superior to many guitar players, but what a lot of them lack is emotion. Tommy plays from the heart.

And yes, it is amazing that this guy can play these songs more thoroughly than even the authors of the songs (The Beatles) could. This guy is playing on ONE GUITAR what The Beatles played on THREE guitars! (two six-strings, and a four-string bass). ummmm ye tommy is definately one of the greatest guitar players of all time for obvious reasons, however i dont think his achievements match the compositional achievements of mccartney, lennon and harrison in the beatles (tommy would tell you how perfect the beatles were himself- he is clearly an enormous fan). he should be commended greatly for arranging the beatles melodies onto guitar and for playing them so skillfully, but ye that will never be as significant as the original composer
