Hopefully not, but fortunately for my I have 7 years to get into a 'super-fit' and we will be taken out on trips into some of the forests via Lake District, oh yeah we don't have high school, us British kids leave school when we are 16 years old, and I am very aware I am talking about the SEALs in that way because they carried out a hostage rescue and was pinned down by enemy fire and they send in another team to rescue the 'rescuers', and I do not disgrace them in anyway.

this was the first actual instruction i had on the so called side stroke, after about a week 500m was nothing, after about 2, i was up to 1000m, and after about 1 month swimming for 30 min straight was no problem what so ever. It started with this video, and then i found the book "total immersion" by terry laughlin. now my perspective on swimming has changed forever. i now prefer swimming to running and it's not unusual now for me to spend about two hours in the pool a day.

to be correct you can swim long distances even without being a master. it will be just slow. i did 2000 yards after only 5 month of swimming, (yep, i couldn't swim before. most time i spent learning breaststroke and finsswim, no trainer, just youtube videos). it took me 65-70 min, so i'm not a master. but, i definitely can swim longer.. my point is it's a real thing, worth learning.

Rather than speed or what not, I think the idea of this stroke is more for stealth? When I first saw this video and stroke, my first response was not "oh it's so slow" or "oh how many inefficient movements there are." Rather, what I noticed was how little splash and water flurry there was, almost none. The whole stroke is underwater, with the exception of the head coming up for a breath. It was a long glide with a nice rhythm breather.

Worked on C&Ds WCS, SEA, SW USA. Always remember; F4 was a 'fleet interceptor' design; get there fast, in a straight line and shoot down bombers with rockets. Dog fights were not part of the plan. Asshole McNamera left out the gun. Notice that carrier landing are a targeted crash, USAF landings aren't.

It's the United States Special Operations Command. It's a broad word pal, the SEALs do operate alone on missions. They are a Maritime Special Operations Force. The Air Force Para Jumpers hence PJ operate alone because their task is to rescue downed airman. Delta Force is for Counter Terrorism missions along with DEVGRU. Green Berets are Special Forces not Special Operations. The Special Ops branch of the Army are a group of Airbourne and Rangers.
