Terje is a fantastic musician a jewel for ECM. It is always a pleasure to listen to him play. This viseo clip shows him one more time in full steam. terje has the guts to play his ass off. Miles would a motherf..er. guitarist.Not to mention his fellow musicians also from ECM they are great too. ECM has always been my favourite label. Norway has the best musicians in Scandinavia.

Norways combination of Jimi Hendrix, Dave Gilmour and Jeff Beck. Terje is very underrated. His music can be haunting, picturesque or explosive. His early stuff from 1970 with Sugarcane Harris (which is now hard to locate) was dynamic!

Seems a bit, well, weak in the brain to think Rypdal doesn't have much to say on the instrument. Lots of stale Mcjazz has melody (still doesn't make it intersting or worth a crap)... Terje consistently cranks out great ideas and playing this clip is a good example, huge thanks for posting the clip.

Seems a bit, well, "not great" to be kind, with regards to Terje. His sound is so unclear. Where's the melody? Or is that just a thing of that past [great composers]? Doesn't sound like he has that much to say on the instrument. On the other hand, Trilok is great! I'd give my right nut to play with him; and Miroslav sounds great, too. Nice arco on the big box--love it.

Thank you so much for posting this. One of my favorite guitarists (saw him live in Berlin in 2000 in the Marcus Stockhausen group) and I agree his albums with Vitous and DeJohnette are mighty fine music.

Vitous's first solo album 'Infinite Search' is still one of his best. It has some hi-energy playing by John McLaughlin, Herbie Hancock (playing the fender rhodes), Jack DeJohnette and Joe Henderson. If you like what Miles Davis did around '68 / '69 you'll like this. If this is a little too wild for your taste, try 'Journey's End' from '82. It has a thoughtful, relaxed atmosphere and features some very elegant lyrical improvising by the leader and reedplayer John Surman.

Nice! :-) Yeah, I hadn't heard much of his stuff until recently, but there's a ton of clips on youtube, and I also bought his album 'Universal Syncopations', which is amazing (it features Chick Corea on piano, Jan Garbarek on sax, Jack DeJohnette on drums, and even John McLaughlin playing guitar on one track!). I don't have any other albums of his though, so if you know of any others worth hearing, let me know. I gather he was also a founding member of Weather Report. :-)

Amazing stuff. I love all the musicians here. Jan Garbarek has one of the most wonderful, instantly recognisable sax sounds ever. Miroslav Vitous is just stunning. The drummer's pretty good too. :-)
