I think it's a bit arrogant to say such a thing. I understand what you say for I'm a musician too, but it is not necessary to study music to perceive the brilliancy of this piece :) After all, one does not get to love it only for "structural" perfection -- that would be like a perfectly written poem with no real conent. Kinda make you wonder about the bouency ratio....There couldnt have been a full pool of water before all those people got in there. water rises when a persont gets into it, think of yourself sitting in a full bath tub, that water goes up and if its too full it runs out the side. What was the jerk thinking? Pat actually asked the crowd to throw him a beer. He literally asked the crowd if anyone had a beer for him(I was there too). Pat unfortunately asked for what happened, obviously not knowing that shot was "perfect" in a bad way. He was lcuky that only 2 beer went flying, the one that he caught and held up, and the one that hit him. I am a big Pat Green fan & loved his show, but I am sure he will admit to it being mistake to ask for a beer to be thrown at him.

Ok. Light moves on the null geodesic. The mirrors move on timelike geodesics (being mechanically held). The light and the 'objects' are, in conventional GR, influenced differently by a gravity wave. That difference is measurable - being the point of LIGO! My point is that time WILL alter. That is 'timelike will be the equivalent of Null. Ok, nonsense? lol. we'll see.

Not quite right. You must take into account that light moves on the null geodesic while the mirrors move on massive geodesics - in other words they are affected by GWs differently. Your confusion is common and there are papers that answer this in mathematical detail using GR.

So if you place 2 detectors that are separated one will have space stretched or compressed whilst the other has not - as the waves pass by. Compare the 2 and there you have it... a detection! Space 'shape' is 3d space which we visualise using a 2d rubber sheet (a depression in the sheet caused by a weight -mass-). Gravity wells. For the Earth and stars they are generally circular and move around in concert with orbits etc. We should remember that these depressions are 3d (spherical) and shape SPACE.
