It is titled babel after a story in the bible where the people of Babel wanted to build a tower ( hence Tower of Babel) in order to reach god ( and by that challenge his power). Not sure why but when i think of Little Children, the movie: American Beauty always comes to mind...excellent pictures...and just realized that both films' music is composed by Thomas Newman. Btw, check out Perfume: Story of a Murderer for yet another film treat....I got lucky watching Little Children and Prefume in one sitting...and Prefume is NOT a chick flick btw...thank goodness.

Agreed....i have the same taste as you both! Thomas Newman did a wonderful job composing the music on the entire film, including this end credits sequence. Interestingly he modified this end credits piece subtely on the soundtrack..i think this version (here in this credits) is a better choice (more powerful and sweeping).

I don't know why, but he accidentally hammered the end of the nail to a right-angle, turning it into a hook. I like this opening scene as a editor for the different styles it incorporates with stop footage for credits and colorization. The steady streaming score behind the footage is well aligned for this. My only concern in the writing is why this kid was so stupid to not be able to take the nail out of his foot and tromp on with it through many scenes. No, this is my very first veiwing of this film and my first comment. But it is favorited and given 5star rating. I will try and watch the movie here.

Not, totally sucked. But I think it should have been as good as 'LA Confidential' or 'Chinatown'. Instead, it was let down by a lack of vision and coherent style from the director (I mean to avoid using the look and feel of the era more was a crime in itself!) and a pretty lame script. But it was always going to be hard to make a film out of that book anyway.
