As far as I'm concerned, this particular performance on this storied occasion defined a generation and remains the greatest, most electrifying, live rock performance of my lifetime. Not pretty, not perfect, just pure, live, raucous energy.

If you closely it isn't his hands that are playing...they are different hands cleverly positioned like in a magician's show..

Allvin Lee is one of the BEST EVER!!!!
By: zep444. on 02 Dec 08, 06:30:40
I agree with gajk, talking about drummers on this message board is an insult to this absolutely fret burning performance. I disagree with gajk on the second point. On this night NO ONE could touch Alvin Lee!!!
By: snesich. on 02 Dec 08, 00:51:39
One of the absolute masterpieces at Woodstock. And in rock history. The energy of the crowd obviously is energizing to all the performers; so many of them seemed to "peak" at this magical setting. It was incredible. Watching Alvin Lee is stunning. And the way it was captured on film is also staggering. I'm out of breath every single time I see this.

By: gajk041008. on 01 Dec 08, 19:39:57
oooop's, sorry, they show the drummer for a few seconds.
By: gajk041008. on 01 Dec 08, 18:59:33
just curious, why are there comments about drummers with this clip when lee is showing some fine guitar pyrotechnics? they don't even show the drummer. i don't know if i can say the he was the "greatest on that night", but it was an awesome performance. (p.s.-i feel keith moon was the best drummer of all time.)
By: leadzeppbelly. on 01 Dec 08, 14:52:17
I'd agree with that actually. Ginger Baker is up there as well.
By: mrsonicyouth. on 01 Dec 08, 12:10:29
oh come on. ten years after is really good. but it stands not in competition with the others.. also much respect to jimi hendrix, clapton, jimmmy page, keith richards and all the great guitarists and song writers. quality is more than playing very fast on a guitar.. (i think you appreciate a lot)
By: outlawwolf621. on 01 Dec 08, 08:13:43
this is so fuckin good-blew Hendrix and Clapton away in my opinion, this guys teh best, along withthe Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck, and Michael bloomfeld
By: floovial. on 30 Nov 08, 14:21:14

By: a10s871. on 30 Nov 08, 02:22:43

By: apanokato. on 30 Nov 08, 00:06:14
doriath2008: Do a little research before you make such a stupid statement. TYA was the first band to sell out MSG. Indeed, from 1968-1975 it toured the U.S. 28 times. Three GREAT reunions. And some of the most LOYAL fans around!!!!
By: fretgod321. on 29 Nov 08, 22:27:18
agreed
By: gotlos. on 29 Nov 08, 02:46:31
Sick!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love how he look's down right before the beggining of the intro at his guitar as to say I'm about to kick the shit out of you! Awesome!!!!
By: Sayyyywhat. on 28 Nov 08, 22:46:56
yeah couldnt agree more. Actually michael shrieve i think is better than bonham
By: Sconan42156. on 28 Nov 08, 21:16:32
Sorry to burst your bubble , but Keith Moon was The Best..Then Bonham...Ask anyone who REALLY knows!
By: 1eggcream. on 28 Nov 08, 21:01:40
I don't know what doriath2008 is talking about! Ten Years After was far from obscurity. Perhaps you weren't around then. Even a few years ago when they performed Alvin Lee was as great as in this clip. There are MANY that still think that Alvin is one of the greatest guitarist there is! Thank you Alvin where ever you are!!!
By: zep444. on 28 Nov 08, 18:21:38
On this one night Alvin Lee was the greatest guitarist on the planet!!!
